Election Views #14

Tom Cole, ® OK seems to feel that whoever runs for President will not much effect the down ticket. That those running for the House will depend on their own gerrymandered districts to keep them in office, which brings to the fore a whole other problem. The bigger problem may be that he is right. I would love to see some figures on how many people just vote the party and how many split their ballot depending on any number of circumstances.

I think that contrary to Mr. Cole’s position there are a goodly number of voters that pick their presidential candidate and then just continue down the column, flipping switches. I have no proof of this. This is just a theory based, however, on the observation that most people are basically lazy and will go for the easiest option in any circumstance. This should be particularly true of the kind of lazy, uninformed voter that has in the past, continually voted for bad congressional candidates simply because they were the undercard to GOP presidential candidates.

My desk is awash with notes about Donald Trump issuing this or that insane statement over the last couple of months. It seems that Trump is simply incapable of dealing with his candidacy in anything like a logical functional way. Any distraction pulls him off message and dumps him into a trash container of false information, muddled thoughts and his panic over the fact that in the end he will look like the fumbling horses ass that he really is.

An infinite number of others have gone into the Khans, the bundle of money, the cheering Muslims in New Jersey, his Fact Check history of lying about 59% of everything he says, how much money he has, why he won’t release his taxes and any number of other items that would normally disqualify any candidate favored by a same base but none of which seems to effect the brain dead, trailer park trash that clings to his lies with a desperation born of last chance loserdom.

It seems, finally, that even through the fog of lies and phony attacks that he uses to protect his ego, Trump is becoming vaguely aware of the futility of his misguided quest. But instead of altering his methods, in a probably futile attempt to gain traction, he dishonestly and disingenuously starts tweeting and blabbering about how the election will be fixed. Really Donald? You mean like your hair? He blusters about people voting ten times. Doesn’t he realize that the only example of voter fraud in recent national history was when Jeb Bush created the hanging chad to alter the Florida election results to give his useless brother the Presidency in 2000, allowing said brother to almost destroy the country.

No, Donald, election rigging runs about, .oooo2% which is so negligible as to be all but no-existent. But it does give you the excuse your ego will need when you are crushed in November. After Hillary beats you until you turn some normal color, your ego will definitely need some solace and telling everyone, starting now, that the election is rigged will give your ego everything it needs to survive this self made calamity.

Then there’s Tom Cotton, standing in front of the tractor that he hasn’t the skills to drive, lying to the American public about Trump’s already trashed hostage ransom accusations. Cotton hangs an American flag in back of him just in case we recognize that he’s too dumb to be a a patriot. Too bad he can’t prove he has at least a modicum of intelligence.

The real facts come from David Ignatius, who has a functional, working knowledge of what is actually going on in the world. He tells us that the money referred to in the phony hostage deal was part of the return of Iranian money that we had held up as part of the sanctions. That it was being returned in cash because the banking systems needed to transfer it, are not in place. That it looks bad but it is all above board. We wonder where a clown like Cotton gets the nerve to lie outright about something so important.

Watching the pundits trying to sell the new pivot by Donald Trump from raving maniac to the reasonable man of the people that his writers have laid out on the teleprompter. People like Joe Scarborough, who have known him in person, tell us that he is a reasonable intelligent well-mannered man who is nothing like the raving sociopath that he plays on the campaign trail.

Yeah, but the Trump on the teleprompter last night was created by others. The raving nut we keep seeing in front of his hysterical mobs is the real Donald. That’s the one he manifests when he isn’t being prompted by others. That’s the egomaniac that insults the disabled, attacks Gold Star mothers and calls everyone within shooting distance a liar, when he is the biggest, most blatant liar in captivity.

Donald Trump, the noise that walks like a man, was in Louisiana this week braying about how he was there for the people of that once again flooded state and that President Obama wasn’t. That sounds great to the brain dead followers of the fat orangutan until you find out that the state of Louisiana had asked Obama and both presidential candidates to stay home.

Those who understand such things know that when a President or a candidate for the presidency travels, they are protected by not only the Secret Service but also by details of state and local police that are brought into service to supplement the Presidential protectors. Governor Edwards had requested that because of the already substantial drain on law enforcement due to the floods, the President and both candidates not come to the already overwhelmed state.

Obama and Clinton, both of whom understand English and both of whom are motivated by needs other than their own egos, accepted the request of the governor and stayed away. Trump, disregarding the needs of the people of the state of Louisiana and by complying as usual, with his own, selfish wants, blundered into the state, adding to the burden of the already overwhelmed state security forces, but giving himself, a chance to look like the phony he really is.

So much for Trump’s new management team that was supposed to keep him on message and get him under control. His trip to this beleaguered state proves once again that Trump cares nothing for anyone but himself. He doesn’t care how many Americans he puts in danger as long as he gets to do what he wants. That is exactly the kind of president he would make if the voters of this country are dumb enough t put him n office.

Watched Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate on Al Sharpton’s show. She seems like a smart lady, with very good goals but what he hell is she doing running for president at this point n the election process? It’s past Labor Day and she has only managed to interest 3% of the voters. Is she really so delusional as to think that she can really win? And if she doesn’t believe that she can win why is she helping Trump, because that’s what she is doing just like Johnson is helping Clinton. At least Johnson is approaching the 15% needed to get on the debates. Stein will never get to that point so is her supposed battle for office just another example of the female flipside of Trump and a runaway ego?

Trump has promised his followers over and over that he is a successful businessman and that he knows how to get stuff done. He tells us in no uncertain terms that he will be successful, not because he has a successful political record as a functioning office holder, which he does not, but because he knows how to run things .But that is just another of the big lies. Anyone who has followed his campaign knows that he doesn’t know how to run anything, let alone a campaign. He is now working on his third set of hires. None of them have worked out for the obvious reason that he wants to run everything. First there was Corey Lewandowski who kissed his ass and stayed out of the way. Then there was Paul Manafort who got him involved with the Russians, tried to change his demeanor and ended up getting canned so he could hire a Right Wing fanatic and a chatty blonde who talks a good game but has yet to produce. With two and a half months to go there is plenty of time for at lest two more campaign managers so let’s not hold our breath on this one.

But the point is, that as a businessman, staffing, which he claims to be his strength, is showing as just another weakness. He has failed to hire the right person twice now and is working on a third group headed by , Steve “The Sleaze” Bannon, a fugitive from the Breitbart Report who is crazy as a March Hare. This is not his strength, just another weakness, which makes him just another loser.

When Trump introduced his new toady, Mike Pence, both immediately stuck to the same page, attacking immigrants and refugees along with Obama and Hillary on foreign policy. Both made their points by continually pushing the big lie, that refugees are spreading terrorism. The reality: refugees are fleeing terrorism and radical elements all over the world. Of all the so-called terrorist attacks, including Belgium, Nice, Paris, San Bernardino, Orlando, etc., none of the attackers have been refugees. Not one! More to the point, most of them have been native-born citizens of the country in which the event occurred. The only one that wasn’t a long term resident or citizen was the wife of the San Bernardino killer who came here two years ago on a fiancé’s visa, a little something that neither of the big mouthed GOP candidates have even thought of. You can’t fix stupid.

Trump has boosted the concept of all the recent attacks both home and abroad in order to double down on being a law and order candidate. His problem is that he doesn’t have a clue that the first basis for law and order is to protect the rights of the people, not to punish them for perceived violations. This is a core problem for Trump because it demands the ability, on his part, to tell the difference between right and wrong, a talent which, in his persona, is sadly lacking.
