It just goes on and on. Trump and Pence babble on about security when they both know that a wall will not strengthen security but weaken it. Their lies know no depth. It’s obvious that the fat liar and the pseudo-religious hypocrite will do or say anything to get their way. The answer for those who say, why don’t the Democrats just give them some wall and get on with opening the government, should be obvious.
Give in on this, even a tiny bit and Trump will use government closing to get anything and everything he wants. Giving him his wall in exchange for opening the government will only tell him that he can use the same ploy anytime the other side doesn’t agree with him. The government will end up being shut down or threatened every other day! That’s the way sick bullies work. That’s how Trump works. That’s why the Dems can’t fold on this. If they do, they will be looking at it again and again for the next two years or as long as the fat liar can stay out of jail.
He’s a rich punk and has no idea of what the people who work for the government, and aren’t getting paid have to go through because of his selfishness.
The figure 800,000 has been thrown around a lot but it’s really a false figure. The real number of those who are affected by this mess is far greater. Almost every one of these 800,000 workers has children, wives, parents and all kinds of other dependents. The real number of those directly affected is in the millions and when you stretch it out to include those indirectly, affected, it’s up there in the tens of millions.
It’s time to forget the politicians and encourage the people involved to step up and take things into heir own hands. TSA workers and the air traffic controllers can stop the air travel business in its tracks. They walk off and no planes fly. The disruption would be massive. It would affect everything that happens in the country. It would reach inside the White House like nothing else. It would bring hundreds of thousands of demonstrators to Pennsylvania Avenue, screaming for the head of the fat liar. That would be the end of the shutdown and quite possibly an end to all government shutdowns brought about by nonfunctional negotiators working with small imaginations.
And while we’re on the subject of walking off the job let’s ask why no one has led these workers in that action. Where are their leaders, their unions? We all know they can’t legally strike but striking assumes leaving a paying job. These people don’t have jobs. A job assumes a paycheck. That’s why one works. Being forced to work without pay is the definition of slavery. But at least slaves were at least fed and housed by their owners. Current government workers don’t even get that.
It’s time for a slave revolt in this country. It’s time for the people of this country to once again back the slaves in their search for a fair deal. It’s time for every government worker affected by this shutdown to walk off the job. Stop the nation in its tracks and we’ll see how long that ignorant base stays with the fat liar.
With all the noise about the wall what must not be lost is that we already have many sections of existing wall and they are failing in the job that they were built to do.
Last week in Arizona over 400 illegal immigrants crossed under and climbed over the existing wall. This was mostly done by a tunnel dug under the wall. So much for the wall working! So much for the wall having any functional effect on immigration.
So this comes down to a point made by Eddie Glaude Jr. on Morning Joe.The whole argument and all the negotiations going on or hoped for, between the Republicans and the Democrats are based on a lie. That lie is that a wall can make a difference in the flow of illegal immigrants across our southern border. It’s only one of Trump’s thousands of lies but it’s a humdinger. It is causing hundreds of thousands of government workers to miss paychecks and it is causing chaos in the lives of millions of Americans. But does Trump care? Not a wit! All the fat liar cares about is what he wants and that’s exactly why neither the GOP nor the Dems should give it to him.
Right now we have our two political parties fighting over resolutions on how to open the government by trading off pieces of this wall for workers paychecks. It’s a monumental waste of time. You can’t negotiate unless there is something real to negotiate for. The wall isn’t real. What wall exists so far doesn’t do what Trump says it will do so what we are really negotiating about is, can this spoiled, nasty two-year-old have his way?
On the same show, Mike Barnacle spoke of an FBI agent he had talked to, who suggested that if Trump really wanted to learn how to stop drugs from coming across the border all he had to do was call for the transcript of the El Chapo trail and have someone read it to him. Maybe that would open up his closed mind to the reality of how drugs come across the border and what a waste a wall would be in stopping them.
So what the hell’s going on? Well, about a month ago Trump came on TV and spoke to the fact that maybe we could do without a wall. The next day Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh and assorted talk radio clowns attacked him and raved about how if he abandoned the wall his Presidency would be a joke. First of all this Presidency is a joke, a dirty joke. A good part goes to the fact that half-a-dozen assholes with bad radio shows can influence the man in the most important job in the world. But more important is the fact that Trump has built this whole shutdown on the lie that a wall will stop the flow of illegal immigrants and as shown last week in Arizona it won’t.

With Trump floundering, this is not the time for the Democrats to be scattering their advantage, but in NYC this week the women’s movement was busy driving a wedge into its own heart because of a lot of nonsense.
It appears to a great extent, that anti-Semitic accusations by certain segments of the women’s movement have, caused this rift. What are they based on?
According to the NY Time’s Michelle Goldberg, when the women’s movement came together in 2017 for the magnificent marches on Washington and across the world, it almost didn’t happen. It was brought together, even as it was falling apart, by the ability of Tamika Mallory, Bob Bland, Linda Sarsour and Carmen Perez to organize over the Internet.
After the march its absence of what would normally have been an organized group that put the march together, left a lot of people who wanted to continue the achievement’s momentum at a loss as to what to do. Many of them got right to work organizing the groups that now make up the women’s movement.
These groups came together after, instead of before, the marches and that resulted in a movement made up of many elements with disparate philosophies.
Mallory has been a follower of Louis Farrakhan, leader of the black-nationalist movement, an avowed anti-Semite and LGBTQ bigot. Mallory’s backing of Farrakhan could be based on help he gave her in a difficult period of her life might be understandable on some levels, but on others it is not. She has stated that she does not share all of Farrakhan’s views but has not identified those she does not. Opposition to her allegiance to him by women who resist Farrakhan’s bigoted and anti-Semitic positions is equally understandable.
Unfortunately the result of all this has been a schism in the NYC Women’s Movement that cannot be sustained at this crucial time of need for teamwork in the Democratic Party and for all progressive causes. The Dems have finally taken back one part of the government. They have a better than fighting chance to bring back the Senate and the White House in 2020. But not if they fracture and begin fighting like kids over candy.
If functional people like Mallory can’t see their way clear to subjugating their personal prejudices to the greater good of the movement then everyone will be better off if they leave the movement to concentrate on their more limited vision. At the same time if the leaders of the movement can’t loosen up their vision to accept those who may not see the world exactly the way they do but who do envision a world otherwise philosophically in tune with the one we all see as necessary, they will ultimately lose to the better organized forces of evil that are now occupying the seats of government.
There is a greater good out there that must be addressed and achieved before we address the particular details that stick in our individual craws. If we can’t see that, we are doomed to be just another mish mosh of Trumpian deplorables with different, albeit equally unattainable goals.
The onset of the Women’s Movement as a really powerful political force gave this writer great hope. It has always been obvious to me that women generally were smarter than men and more able to adjust perspective to achieve functional goals. This rift in the NYC women’s group flies directly in the face of those expectations. It is vitally important that those with a modicum of cool use it to bring the divergent parties back together, both for their own good and for the good of the nation.
It is really stupid to let this get in the way of the Democratic Party doing its job and saving this country from its ignorant, autocratic clown of a President.
