Bits & Pie3ces #118

I’m watching Pete Buttigeig having a conversation about the subtle differences between socialism and capitalism and the ways they interact in our present society and I begin to wonder how that conversation would sound coming from our current president. And I couldn’t help but laugh. The idea that Donald Trump would even understand what Buttigeig was talking about is farcical. It’s also very depressing because it makes one realize that whereas there are people out there who actually understand these kinds of political, social and economic differentiations we are sitting here with a Fat Liar in the White House who doesn’t even recognize their existence, let alone understand their differences.

So that’s what it all comes down to. Can the nation survive the brute stupidity, the grinding self-promotion for another two years or will the horrifying criminal in the White House destroy this country before we can vote him out of office?

The basic problem, the one that accosts anyone trying to accomplish anything constitutional, moral or legal is that the Fat Liar in the White House recognizes none of these principals as having any value in the governing of the country he has been elected to lead.

The problem goes back to those who elected Trump. In their zeal to get someone into the White House that was different than anyone who had gone before him, they didn’t bother to pay any attention to why he appeared different or how different than a normal human being he really was.  Trump is an aberration, a boil on the ass of humanity. His view of the world encompasses no principal other than, “what can it do for me.”  He accepts no logic, understands no subtlety and refutes anything that runs contrary to his obvious goal of ultimate self- promotion.

His problem is that already having achieved the most important job in the world, his limited imagination is stressed to uncover anything more to promote his own image or enhance his own ego so he has fallen back on getting even. His current energy seems to all be aimed at revenge for any real or imagined slight that anyone has ever imposed upon him.

Limited as he is, in intelligence and imagination, this results in name-calling and petty insults. His attack on Congressman Adam Schiff as a pencil neck is the perfect example of this. Sure Schiff may fit the bill but then so does Steve Miller, to whom Trump is currently handing over the keys of the kingdom. Actually anyone as grossly overweight, wrinkled, flab covered, disheveled, and hideously orange haired as the monstrous Trump should not be commenting on anyone else’s appearance. I mean, aren’t there any mirrors in the White House?

Sarah Sanders came out from under her rock, this Sunday to appear on This Weekand to do what she does best; lie. She started with Trump’s border crisis and his illegal threat to send all immigrants to Sanctuary cities. In true Trumpian fashion, Sanders denied any recognition of what’s legal and what is not, and denied the already published facts that the administration has been told Trump’s plan is illegal.

Sanders demands that Democrats in congress sit down with Trump and work out some legal solution to the crisis but makes that suggestion  without recognizing the fact that no one can negotiate with Trump simply because he does not recognize the concept of truth and thereby he negates any possibility of anyone, including himself, ever arriving at a real conclusion or any kind of solution to anything.

Of course, Sanders, like the liar she works for, fails to understand that the real solution to the northbound flood of immigrant’s lies not at our border but at the places from which hey have fled. No one wants to leave his or her home. One has to be completely non-compas mentus to think that anyone would embark on a thousand mile walk just to get the sun. These people leave their homes and travel to our country because they are under threat of death or worse. If we want to slow the flow we must help make the places they come from more habitable. To do that takes a recognition that we are not alone in the world, a concept far too complicated for the small minds of the President or his spokeswoman to grasp.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar opened her mouth again last week and once again stepped on her own tongue. It’s really time for the Progressives to rein in those among them that don’t know how to speak in public.  Omar’s reference to 911 was disrespectful no matter how you try to fly it. Yes, she was trying to make a valid point but she has to either learn how to do that in such a way that she doesn’t insult most of the country or keep her mouth shut. For a Muslim woman to make that statement without referring to the fact that the attack on our country was carried out by 100% Muslims is Trumpian in its stupidity and she should be ashamed of herself.

But if the Democrats don’t censure her then they deserve all the bad press they get. If some dumb Republican had said something like that he would now be buried in Democratic verbiage. Instead of worrying about whether Joe Biden made an affectionate but certainly not harassing gesture toward a young woman he was helping, maybe the noisy progressives who are beginning to look more and more like the Tea Party for the Left, should get heir own house in order.  Between Omar, Ocasio-Cortez and a couple of others, they a becoming a definite embarrassment to any serious political movement that looks to take over any kind of governance.

Watched Democrat Tim Ryan of Ohio on the tube this week announcing that he is running for president because his daughter was upset that one of her friends father’s lost his job and they have to move away. Great inspiration! But if you want to run for president you have to actually do the work and come up with a viable solution for the problem. Otherwise you’re just another stumblebum like Trump or any of the other toxic idiots who want the office but don’t want to do the work.

Ryan is a clown but not even a serious one. He should be studiously ignored.  He is running on one topic and he doesn’t even know how to frame it

Chris Christie and Rahm Emmanuel went head to head and side by side on This Week, Sunday. They are two of the smartest guys in American politics and it’s always a pleasure to listen to either of them but Christie made one statement that got my hackles up when he said that AOC and Ilhan Omar were the voices of the Democratic Party. That’s pure bulllshit; just another GOP wet dream.  The GOP would love that to be true but the only people who are listening to these young, inexperienced women are the ultra-fanatic far left and a bunch of lazy reporters looking for an easy headline.  Both of them, but especially AOC have made something of a name for themselves just by getting elected. Now they have to do something important and that won’t happen unless they stop having news conferences and start doing the hard work. Both, by their intemperate statements have already put themselves on the edge of oblivion and both have to be very careful or they will simply disappear in a Sara Palinesque swan dive over the edge of insignificance. AOC had a surprising victory over an establishment figure that was too lazy to get out and do the work to get re-elected. Now she has to do her own work to develop a platform that does her community some good. Without that she’s just another hack politician with a big mouth and we’ve already got too many of those.

When Bernie Sanders ran in 2016 he was a one-trick pony. It was a good trick but he needed way more. Maybe he got screwed in the primary by a more politically astute Clinton campaign but when he lost, neither he, nor the whiny little bitches that followed him did the right thing. Instead of switching their allegiance to Clinton, they either stayed home or wasted their votes on a ludicrous candidacy of Jill Stein who is so insignificant I shouldn’t have bothered to name her. So to a great degree, because of Bernie’s dumb followers we got Trump.

But the other night Bernie did something really smart. He ignored the bad advice of Democratic Chairman, Tom Perez and went on a Fox News show, a kind of town hall meeting where there was a somewhat mixed audience and two of Fox’s slobbering attack dogs, Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, primed to bring him down.

It was a slaughter all right but not the way Fox executives imagined it. Bernie showed up armed with something they had never encountered before – facts. From the very beginning he tore them to pieces and even the radical right parts of the audience recognized it. Bernie tore kicked them with healthcare facts and beat them over the head with wage statistics. Baier saw the writing on the wall and gave up early; sitting glumly as Bernie tore MacCallum’s pathetic arguments to pieces.

Martha knew how to yell with Bernie but not how to think with him and he wiped the floor with her, proving that in the end, no matter how much you lie or obfuscate you can’t go up against a smart guy with real facts.

Besides proving his political points, Bernie proved something else and this time to the leaders of the Democratic Party. He proved that going into the enemy’s camp, as long as you know what you’re talking about can be a great offensive weapon. I don’t recommend this tactic to every Democratic candidate. Many of them are not up to it but I would love to see Pete Buttigeig, Kamala Harris, Eric Swalwell, Julian Castro or Elizabeth Warren do it. But you have to be tough too. Bernie wasn’t afraid to call a lie a lie and when MacCallum blabbered on about a load of crap he called her on her inability to understand what the hell he was talking about. It killed her. She wasn’t bright enough to know it, but everyone in that room and a good part of the TV audience did. I think she’s going to enjoy being the weather girl in Omaha.
