An Early Look at Elections

At a rally the other night in Pennsylvania, Trump accused Biden of abandoning that state and running away. That’s right Donald. That cowardly 10 year-old Joe Biden just didn’t have the guts to stay behind and make his way alone when his thoughtless father moved the family to Delaware so he could earn a living. This is what hundreds of people came to hear the fat clown talk about.

Quick takes on a few of the Democratic candidates that are wasting everyone’s time and someone’s money.

Former Governor Hickenlooper brags about Colorado having the best economy in the nation but the population is so small it’s no too difficult. He claims most Dems don’t want to engage in world trade but won’t name any of them. This guy is a loser. He says he is running for President to get stuff done but getting stuff done in Colorado is like being the best basketball player in Nome, Alaska.

Tulsi Gabbard: She’s attractive and well spoken but too many of her ideas are dead wrong.

Seth Moulton, Congressman, MA. This guy thinks that just being a vet makes him presidential material. He has nothing to say that everyone else isn’t saying. Everything he does say refers back to being a vet and that’s just not enough.

Bill DeBlasio left NY last week to thunderous applause. He may not have realized it but it was  from those who don’t want him back. DeBlasio is a really good speaker and sounds great on the stump until you check his record in NYC. We already have one non-functional New Yorker in the White House. We don’t need another one. Bill has failed in affordable housing, education and traffic congestion, the most important aspects of his job as Mayor. ‘Nuff said!

Beto O’Rourke had his shot at a Town Hall Meeting the other night and he missed the target. The first question was a real softball and he dropped it. The questioner asked what he would do about foreign policy problems created by our current government. Two minutes later we had a concise history of all the stuff that Trump has done wrong but still no idea what Beto would do in his place.

The next question was; should we impeach Trump and why? Once again we discovered that Beto watches the news and even possibly reads. He did say yes to the first part, which was refreshing, but instead of telling us why or how, he simply listed a bunch of Trump administration failings. Another question unanswered.

Next he was asked by a farmer, how we are going to stop the destruction of 50 years of farming and the markets lost to South American nations because of Trump’s tariffs? This one really took a little knowledge and Beto was completely at sea. He babbled on about passing the farms to other generations and how we should bring our South American allies into a fight that they are not equipped to enter. That was all I could take. This guy is an empty vessel.

These people have absolutely no chance of winning anything. All they do is take time and money away from the real candidates. I’m sure it’s very gratifying to their ego to hear themselves referred to as presidential candidates but we already have an egomaniac as President.

Tom Cotton was on Meet the Pressand my only question is why? Just because Cotton was elected by a backward, bigoted state is no reason to give his racist judgments a hearing. This is a clown that believes life begins when a couple climbs into the backseat. But that’s not the point. The point is that abortion shouldn’t be a decision based on law. It should be a decision reached by a woman and her doctor. Cotton just hasn’t got the grey matter to understand that.

On the subject of Iran, Cotton states that we have taken the action of accumulating warships and troops into Iranian waters in order to prevent Iran from attacking our interests. Really? Does he really think that Iran would risk complete destruction by attacking American interests, no matter where on the planet they are?

That is not to say that Iran wouldn’t be a formidable foe but they surely wouldn’t stand a chance of winning a war with the U.S. and in the process they would see their country turned into Iraq after what was a miserable failure of a war. Cotton is a fool and we have way too many of them in our government.

Lots of voices have been raised in the past week, telling us that we are now engaged in a constitutional crisis.  Actually that’s not accurate.  What we are engaged in is constitutional denial. If the Democrats and Republicans were arguing about the legality of some point in the constitution that could lead to a crisis but there is no argument involved here. There is simply complete denial by the GOP and the White House of anything that the House of Representatives is legally requesting.

Since the Democrats took office in January not one single request for anything by the House has been honored. Not one slip of paper has been provided by the government to any House committee requesting it. No one has cooperated with anything the House is doing. And it isn’t as if the White House is contending the legality of any of these requests; it’s just ignoring them. The Trump administration is saying, “fuck you” to any and every request by the House for information or cooperation on every subject broached.

What that means is, the Trump administration is refusing to abide by the strictures of the law. They, for all practical purposes, are denying congress the rights expressly laid out for it in the constitution. Trump and his lackeys are saying, “We run this country and we obey no law but our own.” Donald Trump and his fellow criminals have seized control of our government and told us all to go to hell.

Trump has decided to push the envelope and Nancy Pelosi must now retrieve the gauntlet he has thrown down and slap him in the face with it. Despite her desire to avoid it, she must now lead the impeachment of the President and most likely the Attorney General. It no longer matters whether or not the House can get a conviction from the Senate.  What does matter is that Trump is anointing himself a dictator! He must be stopped and the way to do it is through the impeachment process.

Once the process begins, Pelosi and the Democrats can drag it out until the next election, insuring that the GOP led Senate never gets a chance to acquit, yet guaranteeing that the American pubic gets a long comprehensive look at all the dirt this criminal President has dragged the country through while, quite possibly, gathering enough information on Trump’s dealings with the Russians to bring about a charge of treason. All this might not stop Trump from further blunders into destroying the American image and damaging our security, but it would certainly slow him down until the Democrats an move against him in the 2020 election.

So the pressure is building to impeach. Last week I wrote that Trump wants impeachment and so he does, but that’s only because he hasn’t read the GOP for the bunch of traitorous slime they really are.  Right now the Republicans are being Retrumplicans because they believe that their best chance of holding control is backing Trump. The minute that they start to think otherwise, they will abandon him like a used condom.

What does it take for that to happen? It’s already started. The first Republican has already stood up on his hind legs and stated that Trump has committed obstruction. The first crack in the wall of self-interest is starting to run its course. If the pressure is applied through the implementation of unending impeachment hearings, not impeachment itself mind you, combined with continuous revelations of Presidential guilt on any number of issues, more cracks will appear and at one point, as is always the case in these kinds of affairs, the dam will burst and there will be a flood of GOP job savers fighting to be the next to condemn the criminal in the White House. They will not do this through any sense of altruism but because of a slippage among enough voters that it will endanger their jobs.

If this becomes the case then the Democratic strategy will definitely have to adjust.  Pelosi will have to move ahead with impeachment. She will have to ignore Trump’s strategy of forcing impeachment in order to move attention from all his other failures and implement her own plan to build a mountain of evidence that could change just enough of the GOP base to grease the skids of the GOP congressmen’s defection, enabling them to cynically declare that, “Yes this man is a criminal and I can no longer defend him.”

But those defections won’t happen now. They will only happen as impeachment hearings progress and we approach the 2020 election. They will only happen when it becomes apparent, even to the most jaded Republican, that Trump will lose the election even if he isn’t impeached. Then, faced with backing the loser and in turn losing their own jobs, the GOP will, as a man, abandon Donald Trump, in a mad dash to salvage crumbs as the Fat Liar in the white House goes over the cliff.
