TRUMP, THE CURSE THAT KEEPS ON GIVING

On the 29th of April 2020, after three and a half years in office, President Donald Trump finally told the truth. When questioned by a reporter at a news conference/rally, about how come we now have one million cases the virus if he said months ago that we had it under control?

Trump’s answer was a rambling, blabbering nonsensical assault on the English language, in the middle of which, he stated that, “All the countries in the world are a number.” Christ, that’s true! Sure it’s nonsensical but it is definitely true. All the countries in the world definitely add up to a number, I believe somewhere in the 180’s. So we do know he can tell the truth, even if it’s an illiterate mistake.

Trump’s re-election team has been getting battered by their boss because of the polling numbers that show him getting what there is of his brains, beaten out by Joe Biden in many of the battleground states he took in the last election. They all told him that he was getting killed because of his afternoon pep rallies from the White House but he keeps telling them that his TV ratings are sky high so they can’t know what they are talking about. Sure his ratings are high. People love to tune in and watch him make a fool of himself. Almost everyone I know does it. It’s the new hot sitcom. They tune in to watch him lie and then make a fool of himself trying to lie his way out of it. It used to be sports, theatre, films and a little politics but now it’s, “Did you see what the asshole said this afternoon?”

And while we’re on polls; one that should really matter is the one on New York, the city in which Trump was born and lived, the city in which he grew up as a spoiled, privileged, brat. The city in which he did business, cheating everyone he could find and bribing anyone he couldn’t cheat. We have known him all his life, many of us personally. This is a Republican President who gave to the Democrats all his life, not because he actually believed in any of the principals that party stands for but because NY is a Democratic city and his political donations were thinly veiled bribes.

The polls indicate that in NY State, Trump trails Biden 69% to 31%, well over a sixty point difference from the people who know him best. The same thing happened in 2016 and still we got Trump because all those suckers who had listened to the lies of the actual  Politicians who preceded him figured, wrongly, that this guy would be different. He is different, he’s worse.

Now that a couple of states are opening up and that includes Ohio with the highest death rate in the last two weeks, we are faced with the reality of how it will all become a windfall for the bloodsucking, ambulance chasing, leaches of the liability section of the legal profession. You know these creeps, you see their adds every day on the tube, each begging you to turn your fender bender into a major law suit, each telling you how they can get you more than the next guy, none mentioning the fact that they will take a major portion of anything you might get regardless of whether your claim is phony or legit.

Well, now they are lined up like vampire bats in a cave, smacking their bloody lips over the thought of the windfall that glitters like a golden mountain on the horizon. The legal profession’s marketing arm is painting murals of heroic shysters saving the American workingman and woman from the avaricious clutches of greedy businessmen and a soulless government.

In some cases that will be a true picture. There is certainly no lack of greed and duplicity in our business community or our government. Our workers and our citizens must be protected, but so must our small businessmen, and therein lies the problem.

Moscow Mitch McConnell wants to pass a bill that will prevent businesses that reopen from being prosecuted or sued for any deaths or sickness that occur due to their being back in business. The trial Lawyers Association wants Moscow Mitch dead. Not a bad idea under most circumstances. But here’s the problem: A restaurant opens but does not require its employees to exercise any caution nor does it institute emergency anti-viral protection to provide a safe environment for its customers. Or how about a manufacturer like Oscar Meyer that does not provide a safe working place for its employees or does not institute measures that will guarantee their product will be safe for consumers.

So the basic problem is, we understand the need for controls because historically enough human beings are dishonest, self-serving scum who are guaranteed to endanger others for their own profit. But the same scum, placed on the other side of the aisle will sue businesses or the government for no good reason other then their own profit.

It seems to be the same question that the human race has faced unsuccessfully for centuries. Only now it’s an emergency situation. And because I have always felt that you shouldn’t pose a question like this unless you have some kind of solution, I offer this; The creation of a huge National Inspection Force whose job will be to inspect all businesses for any violation of a set of Pandemic Rules that will govern business, of any sort, that are open to the public. This would help to ensure our safety and it would also provide a big chunk of employment at a time when such a thing is much needed. It would be accompanied by a judicial branch, which would rule on contended violations, much the same as is done in the NYS traffic courts. This would also give a boost to the unemployed ambulance chasers that would be forbidden by law from following their natural inclinations. My God!  I have finally found something on which to agree with Moscow Mitch.

This one was a request but I should already have thought of it myself. Mike Pence, the phony closet queen masquerading as a religious fanatic VP made a trip this week to the Mayo Clinic, ostensibly to visit victims of the virus but really for a photo op.  When he got there the director of the clinic requested that he wear a mask, not just for safety sake but also to hide his lying face. Pence refused and toured the clinic without one. His excuse was that he had just been tested and was virus free.

Of course Pence isn’t bright enough to figure out that he could easily pick up the virus from one of the patients and transfer it to someone else.  But coming to a logical conclusion involves a level of intelligence at least as high as an armadillo, way too far up the spectrum for Pence to even aspire to. It would also involve an understanding of the concept of setting an example but the Trump administration, as a group has no idea of what an example even is, unless it involves cheating the poor and torturing children in prison camps.

Let me begin this final part of the blog by making one absolutely definitive statement. Donald Trump did not create this virus and he bears no responsibility for its existence. But once you accept the truth of that statement you must also realize that he is absolutely responsible for the spread of the virus in this country and our failure to prepare for it or to control it, despite having certain knowledge of its existence and the dangers it posed to the American people and our economy. What must he understood and accepted is, that Trump knew about the existence and spread of the virus as early as December of 2019. He was repeatedly told about it in Intelligence Briefings as early as that.

Why didn’t he respond to that intelligence? Because he’s Donald Trump, because he’s a man who has no knowledge of and little interest in the work for which he’s been elected, because he is only interested in those items that inflate his ego or feed his vanity. It’s fairly obvious that none of the information about the spread of a deadly virus could, in any way, be interpreted as something that would enhance his reputation or help his chances of getting re-elected so he had no interest in dealing with the ramifications of this news. All it meant to him was more time away from Fox News, Morning Joe and his Twitter account.

So when reporters started bothering him with questions about this deadly plague, he simply brushed them off. He just didn’t want to be bothered. He is not possessed of enough sensitivity to have any empathy towards those who are suffering from the disease or mourning their loved ones. Has anyone, seen even the least amount of sympathy come from Trump since the beginnings of this whole affair? Of course not, the gene that triggers that emotion is missing from the Trump DNA. But even without empathy it would seem that just for his own protection, Trump would have long ago jumped into the solutions of the problem.  This is the item that’s going to win or lose the election. But he never tried to face it because he had no idea how to deal with it and as soon as the economy entered the picture that’s where he turned because he did understand that his only strength was the bullshit economy he had been selling to his ignorant base.

By the time he understood that the ass kissing sycophants were tellin him the truth, it was too late. All the programs that should have been implemented in  early January were now examples of his and his administrations inability to do anything right. There was no PPE, no hospital beds, no ventilators and a fast sickening medical staff. Testing, the key to understanding and solving the spread of the disease, was until a week ago almost completely non-existent, and yet he continued to lie about huge supplies of all of the above.

The problem is, he is no longer lying about the number of bodies in attendance at his inauguration, a subject that interests no one. The problem is, he is now lying about the number of bodies in various morgues across the country, a subject that is of the upmost importance to hundreds of thousands of mourners. Mourners that understand that he is personally responsible for the deaths of their loved ones and they want to run him out of the Capital on a rail.

Trump, because of his laziness, vanity and stupidity has caused more damage to this country than even George Bush, and that after two unjust wars and a financial crash is a lot to say
