Post Debte Thoughts

I have been writing about people who are still going to vote for Donald Trump for some time and I have remained mystified as to why people, who in all else appear to be intelligent and informed, will still vote for this obvious disaster. I thought the debates might unearth some clue as to his appeal but unless you have a thing for ill mannered apes even that possibility is now gone.

What a mess! For those of you unfortunate enough to have lost an hour and a half from your lives while watching the so-called “debates” Tuesday night, my condolences for ninety minutes of watching a baboon shit his cage. It was an embarrassment for our country and every citizen in it, even the ones still dumb enough to want to vote for the fat four-year-old sociopath.

Trump needed to accomplish one thing in this debate or whatever it was. He needed to pick up some votes. He is being soundly beaten in almost everyplace he needs to win so he really needed to score big in the debate.  Instead he did what all bullies do; he folded under pressure.  He went out on that stage and instead of trying to present intelligent, cogent arguments to whatever Joe Biden said he shit the bed. He screamed invective, he interrupted Joe’s time, he bulldozed through Chris Wallace’s attempts to run a civilized debate and he generally acted like a drunken barroom lout. He disgraced the country and generally made himself look about as presidential as your average chimp on reds.

Biden did a pretty good job when you consider that Trump rarely allowed him to finish a thought without a braying interruption.

It was obvious right from the top that Trump understood he couldn’t debate Biden, that Biden had too many facts on his side and a far smoother presentation. So he went for the demolition derby.

Unfortunately Chris Wallace hadn’t brought a whip and a chair with him so he was unable to control the fat moron with the orange hair. Wallace is one of the most controlling of all on air hosts and still Trump ran amok. What the hell is going to happen to the other guys who have been chosen to moderate if the debate committee allows another fiasco like this to happen? Donald Trump is a rabid dog. He will run over them like a Sherman Tank. Unfortunately for him, he isn’t capable of doing it in a manner that disguises his complete lack of manners, intelligence and debate skills. If shouting and babbling were debate skills, at least then Trump would be competitive.

I thought that despite Trump’s animalistic display the pre and post debate commentators would be more restrained about him but to my surprise they were even more outraged than I. I didn’t find a single commentator that didn’t think Trump had cut his own throat. It was the most universal condemnation across all the channels that I have ever heard after a debate of any kind. But this wasn’t a debate; this was a defeated bully committing suicide in front of an international audience.

Biden would be a fool to expose himself to another clown show like this one.  I know his staff has already said that they would keep going but he has absolutely nothing to gain. There is just nowhere for the debates to go as long as the orange ape is involved. He is simply incapable of human behavior and his actions just taint anyone that is in any way involved with him. His presence in another debate is enough reason for any intelligent individual to avoid it. As the saying goes, one should never wrestle a pig because you both end up covered in mud but the pig enjoys it.

Then there’s the VP debate. Although he lies like a Trump, we really don’t expect VP Pence to act like one, so it could be a pretty active, competitive go. I would look for Senator Harris to kill him with facts while he will probably try to drown her in his phony piety.  I don’t think he will try the Trump thing. If he does she will, most likely tear off his head and spit down his neck.

But to get back to the Fat Liar in the White House, despite the fact that he felt okay with babbling during Biden’s debate time, he actually had almost nothing to say when it was his turn to speak. Pretty much his only contributions were the 21 lies he managed to get out in the 90 minutes of the debate. When you consider that half the debate time was Biden’s, it means he told 21 lies in only 45 minutes, a good deal of which was used by Chris Wallace, trying to shut him up. So let’s be generous and call it one lie every two minutes. That’s the guy who is running our country. How do you like it?

The Debate Committee tells us that they are looking into new rules for the next debate. The only new rule should be, they won’t let Trump on the stage. If you are stupid enough or ingenuous enough to think that Trump will act differently on a second debate than he did on the first, you should not be allowed out of your room without a keeper. If you are going to be in a decision making position you have to understand that Trump doesn’t pay attention to anything as mundane as rules. His entire brand is built on breaking rules. You want to constrain him, to make him act like an adult human being, wire him up and give the button to the moderator. Then as soon as he goes over his allotted time, said moderator hits hit the button and Trump gets 60 volts exactly where it will do the most good.

A number of talking heads have made a point of bringing attention to Trump’s failure to state that he will leave office peacefully if he loses the election.  It’s pretty obvious that he will be loath to do that, but it is just as obvious that if he loses the vote count Biden’s first job is to evict him. This process is complicated. It happens like this. In October of an election year, The Archivist of the United States, a presidential appointee, sends a letter to the governor of each state. That letter outlines the responsibilities regarding the Electoral College. The electors are members of the Electoral College chosen by their party. They are expected but not required to vote according to the will of the voters that elect them.

Once the final tally of electors has been picked, all 50 governors prepare a Certificate of Assessment listing their electors for the competing candidates. Once this Certificate is completed, copies are submitted to the U.S. Archivist. When this is completed the electors meet in the state capital to cast their votes for president and VP. This year that will happen on 12/14/20.

After that, congress convenes on 1/6/21 to count the electoral votes and certify the winner. This year Mike pence will preside. This process is usually ceremonial because in most elections the vote count has long ago been made and translated to electoral votes. At the end of this count the VP announces the result and asks if there are any objections. That’s where we ran into trouble in the 2001 election in which Bush stole the White House by means of his brother’s being governor of Florida, home of the crooked vote count.

This is where the problems will come again. This is where Trump will probably try to invalidate certain ballots and it’s here that the Democrats must have their own count at the ready so it will count as certification until further legal moves are put in place. That certification will allow Joe Biden to declare himself the president pending further legal proceedings and give him the power to claim the White House and order Trump out. If Trump refuses to leave, that same power can be used to have him ejected by the U. S. Marshal’s Service.

Once he’s on the street and looking like a fool it should be rather easy to keep Trump too busy with indictments for him to cause any real trouble.

And that my friends, is how you keep a thief from stealing a presidency.
