For four years this country watched Donald Trump lie every time he opened his mouth. That was pretty stunning for someone like me who had lived through many bad presidents but had never seen anything like this level of dishonesty come out of the White House, so when Trump got booted out I allowed my naiveté’ to take over. I expected some level of change to take place in. the Republican Party, something that would allow its members to revert to showing they understood the nature of truth. No such luck.
Immediately following the canceling of Liz Cheney and her speech declaring that she would continue to fight Trump and his lies, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy stated that no one is questioning the election result. Really? He also made a very strange statement in which he basically said that there could be no denial of the fact that Biden won the election. Okay Kev, so how come you just cancelled Cheney for saying the same thing? And as it turns out Elise Stefanik, who replaced Cheney, sanctioned the latest fraud that is taking place in Arizona where a third ballot recount is underway. This time they’re looking for bamboo fibers on the ballots because they think that will prove the ballots came from China. No, you can’t make shit like that up.
But just to prove that the current GOP members haven’t abandoned their favorite asshole’s war on the truth, a coterie of his supporters spoke up at the hearings on the Jan 6th attack on the Capitol. They told us that it was Trump supporters who lost their lives that day. They told us that good citizens across the country were being harassed for no good reason and that there was no insurrection at all. In fact Andrew Clyde, R- GA went on to say it looked like any tourist day in Washington. Now I don’t know where Clyde hangs out but it appears to have a hell of a lot more action than anywhere I’ve ever been in that town. The point is, these clowns are not only Trump fans, but they have also learned to lie like him.

Despite having been President, Donald Trump has never won the popular vote in any national election. He lost the last one by over 7 million votes. That isn’t just a loss. That’s annihilation!
Okay, so the question becomes, why have so many Republicans decided to follow a loser into oblivion instead of trying to put together a new party that might possibly be successful. Trump is a proven loser who, in a one man, one vote world, was crushed both times he ran for president. Is it simply shortsighted cowardice that keeps elected Republican’s lips firmly attached to his butt? Do they really think he still has the strength to lead them to an election win?
It’s obvious that Kevin McCarthy has chosen his place at Trump’s feet because he wants to hold off any run by Liz Cheney to unseat him in what he hopes will eventually be the House Leadership, but what about the rest? Does Lindsey Graham really need free time on the links that badly?
Danielle Pletka, with whom I rarely agree, pointed out this Sunday that the GOP’s problem isn’t Cheney saying that Trump lost the election, it’s that they have no one they can depend on to take over leadership once Trump is gone. All the leaders they have tried to develop have ended up standing in direct opposition to Trump, mainly because of the personal image he created for himself and now men like George Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, John Kasich and others have been discarded by the party in its rush to bow to The Fat Liar. So not only has Trump lost the election for President, the House and the Senate, he has also destroyed the Republican farm system by way of which they had developed potential winning candidates like Ben Sasse. They are left with nothing but Trump, an old guard of torn and searched losers like Rubio, Cruz, Jordan, McConnell and Paul and a psychotic new breed of conspiracy theorists like Gaetz, Hawley and Greene. I wouldn’t want to go to war with that bunch even if my opponent was only Bali.

Liz Cheney gave a very honest, very cogent speech the other night as a run up to her party voting her out of a leadership role. The vote was a gesture to Donald Trump who is using the time before he goes to jail to get even with everyone who ever dissed him.
The Trumpets love to talk about the Fat Liar running again for president but the reality is much closer to him running for a foreign hideaway to escape the clutches of the NY DA’s and their tax and conspiracy indictments.
Speaking about presidential runs, in the last few days there has been a lot of conjecture about Cheney running. The talk includes rumors about her father, the old warmonger himself, getting behind her and even some talk about as many as a hundred high level Republicans joining up with her to go against the Trumpets and whoever else they decide will give them the best chance of losing more congressional seats in 2022. It stands to reason that if Trump is still out of jail at that time, he will have soured the chances of any legitimate candidate and left a party populated by the likes of Gaetz, Hawley and Greene. The all QAnon and pedophile ticket represented by that disgusting trio will be all that’s left of the GOP after its romance with Trump.
There are those who don’t believe Cheney can actually put together an opposition party within the GOP but if she can significantly split the vote she might be able to give the Democrats serious majorities in all the places they need them.
