Politicians in Washington are all walking around with their arms in slings from patting themselves on the back over the new Gun Safety bill they just passed. Too bad it accomplished almost nothing. If you don’t get rid of the guns nothing else matters. So far no one’s been shot by a background check.
But even as this toothless piece of legislation was being praised by those who couldn’t or wouldn’t do better, Donald Trump’s Supreme Court was busy destroying abortion protection and making it easier to carry a gun in states where that deadly practice is already banned.
Yes, it’s Trump’s Supreme Court. This criminal sociopath took a court that already leaned to the Right and with the help of Mitch McConnell, a henchman completely without moral standards, managed, by doing things the wrong way, to stuff the court with unqualified sycophants who look to follow him into the cesspool in which he currently exists.
Despite the fact that 70% of Americans believe a woman and her doctor should make abortion decisions.
And 57% believe that abortion should be legal in most cases,
McConnell’s robed hacks just don’t give a shit.

Kristi Noem, Truumpist Governor of South Dakota, was interviewed on This Week about South Dakota having one of those cute little laws that popped out of the woodwork and went into effect the moment that SCOTUS made its unfortunate ruling. Noem was quick to state that SD had all kinds of protections and support in place to help women who might need it, but when confronted with the actual facts that SD was a failed state with a miserable social services record, she was, like most of the Right, stuck for an answer. The question not asked by host Martha Raddatz was; “What would you do if you were caught by an unwanted pregnancy?”
It’s an out bet that Noem would babble something about saving the life of the baby she was carrying and how the state would provide all the help she would need. Really? Does anyone really think for a moment that if she wasn’t happy with being pregnant, said she wouldn’t be visiting an out of state abortionist?

The major argument of the Far Right for it’s position on abortion seems to be that the Constitution did not guarantee the right to said abortion so it’s up too each state to make that decision. If this is factual, what the hell do we need congress for? It’s the same old States Rights bullshit that works fine nowhere in the world.
Slavery isn’t mentioned in the Constitution either and it’s pretty clear how well that question was solved when we left it to the states to work out.

Right now because of the largely irresponsible decisions by The Court we have a significant number of congressmen calling for the enlarging of the Court to politically balance it’s POV. The principal argument against this is that each subsequent President will be enlarging or reducing the court to bring it in line with his needs and wants. That was a real and functional argument until the Right decided to mess with settled law. Roe v Wade was settled law, law that traditionally was outside the purview of change by other than a new law passed by congress and signed by the President. The GOP decided to ignore that to get their way, and now all protections have been discarded because of the actions of men like Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump. Our whole legal system is in a shambles and we are even attacking peoples right to their own bodies.
It looks like the answer is to jack up the Court to an even dozen, get the rulings we want and then legislate against easy change. Maybe then we can get back to a fair and equitable legal system. Sure it’s cynical but we are fighting the biggest bunch of cynics in the history of politics; men who have proved their cynicism by disguising themselves as the religious followers of some true God that exists only in their wish fantasies and in the needs of their pocketbooks.

The decisions to end the NY carry restrictions and to ban abortion are the result of the appointment of three new justices on the Court. Two of whom lied under oath to get where they are and one who is being controlled by a religious cult. What am I talking about? Susan Collins and Joe Manchin both claim that Gorsuch and Kavanaugh stated under oath that if appointed, they would not vote to overthrow Roe v Wade. That was an outright lie. This should be cause for the impeachment of both justices as they achieved their lifetime appointments by committing perjury. Neither has the moral stature to be on the Supreme Court. The other case is of course Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who is a lifetime member of People of Praise, a fanatic Roman Catholic cult that requirs is members to obey their leader in all things. This, of course means that Barrett is not expressing her own opinions in her votes but those of the man who directs her as part of her cult vows.

Mo Brooks, Matt Gaetz, Andy Biggs, Louie Gohmert and Scott Perry
all requested pardons for their actions in the Jan 6 affair. The only reason to ask for a pardon is if you have committed a crime. This would appear to be a tacit admission by each of these men that they are guilty of attempting to overthrow the government, or in other words, treason.

So it wasn’t bad enough that SCOTUS took away the rights of more than half the population of the United States, two days before they made it less safe for the rest of us to practice what rights we have left. Their decision on a weapons carry law in New York State is in direct conflict with the majority of U.S. citizens that maybe want to live a little longer.
The new ruling that “To justify a firearm regulation the government must demonstrate that the regulation is consistent with the Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation,” is inconsistent with reality.
Think about that. Understand as you regard it how utterly ridiculous it is. What does the value of any law have to do with its consistency with the history of the events that led to it? In fact, most laws are passed to change the historical situation that exists, not to enforce it.
We pass laws to encourage change in behavior not to support existing behavior. There is no need to pass a law to support existing behavior that is not problematic.

Peggy Noonan tried to make the point on Meet the Press that the Republicans finally got their way on abortion because they realized that they would get further with persuasion than they had any other way, but she is dead wrong. The GOP didn’t get Roe v Wade overturned by persuading anyone of anything. They long ago understood that they
had no powers of persuasion because they had neither fact nor logic on their side in any of their arguments. So having discovered this, they went to theft, perjury, thuggery and degeneracy to achieve their goals. They got this ruling from the court by having two of the current justices lie under oath about their position on it, by the Senate majority leader illegally ignoring one candidate and then forcing two others into their appointments although, considering the proximity to elections, they shouldn’t have been eligible. This is not persuasion, Peggy. This is thuggery and the GOP is very good at it.
Another change not considered on the Supreme Count would be the election of their members for ” X ” years, not lifetime. Why they should get a lifetime pass is beyond me.
The above critical assessment of SCOTUS is, without question, one of the most imbecilic, ignorant, and thoroughly blinded articles I have ever read on any subject. Tragically, from an overall appraisal of all that the Supreme Court has done in recent weeks (RvW overturned; New York carry policy; et al), those who are now violently and vociferously opposing their decisions are in essence in support of a tyrannical, despotic, and Marxist , oriented system, that in many ways, would ultimately look like the culmination of the NAZI Party in Germany in particular from 1938 until Germany ended up in rubble by no later than May of 1945. The spiritual, intellectual, and emotional darkness of Marxism, NAZI manipulation and domination, and the paganism of ancient cultures going all the way back to the oldest written records we have from ancient Sumer (i.e., ca. 3000 BC), the “self-deification” of mankind in pursuit of the self-destructive and lying, narcissistic lusts (and with the overturn of RvW, the pursuit by women of uncontrolled sexual license without any consequences, versus abortion for the sake of the women’s life, etc.) that have and will always bring about the overall destruction of any person and society throughout written history (including, once again, ancient Sumer forward)!
