Biden’s New Bill

Joe Biden threw down the gauntlet this week and it’s pretty clear he’s not worried if the Republicans pick it up. That’s because no matter what they do, he will win and so will the American people.

Biden proposed a bill that will spend $2.5 trillion to help create a functional country and he is proposing to do it in such a way that the real cost will be insignificant. Those who will bear the cost will be those that won’t really be affected because they already have more money then they know how to spend or they will only be paying their fair share. It’s as “painless“ as it can get.

The fact of the matter is our tax code has been rigged by generations of lobbyists for the rich to a point where the super rich no longer pay anything like a fair tax and even if they did it would still not affect their lifestyle in any meaningful way. If you make serious money, over three, four hundred thousand a year, there is no way that paying your legal taxes is going to significantly affect your lifestyle, especially when one considers that a big portion of that money will go to improve all the public amenities that help you make that kind of money in the first place. If you consider not being able to afford a second yacht a serious imposition, that’s tough shit you greedy pig.

The big argument against forcing corporations to pay at least 28% regardless of how many loopholes their accountants manage to uncover is it will affect employment because those companies will no longer be able to expand and create jobs. If you believe that one, a beautiful bridge I have been keeping off the market may be available to you and only you at a very significant price reduction.

The fact is, the money corporations save by not paying taxes doesn’t go into creating jobs. It never did. It goes into executive bonuses and dividends. It always has and it always will.  The only time a big corporation creates jobs is when its tech people are unable to build robots to do those jobs. If you’re silly enough to listen to nonsense like that you should at least be informed enough to know it’s bullshit!

Even Moscow Mitch McConnell couldn’t bring himself to attack the virtues of the bill so why did he promise that no Republicans would back it? His problem is, it would take tax money from his rich cronies. It’s just another of his calculations, this time hopefully incorrect, that people won’t recognize the crooks that are stealing from them. McConnell is using a strategy much like the one he used when Obama was in office. It stopped all legislation dead and led to nothing getting accomplished once the GOP took control of the Senate. It was wrong then and it’s wrong now. Biden must crush it by passing all needed legislation without any GOP votes. Forget bi-partisan. When one side votes without logic or reason, simply on their whims or their prejudice, they are the ones who have abandoned partisan legislation.

If the majority of Americans are able to display even a modicum of intelligence when facing candidates in 2022 they will see that the existing GOP legislators have only their own power and the pocket books of their corporate backers in mind and they will defeat them all by resounding margins.

Mitch McConnell says he’s for the improvement of our infrastructure but then he says he’s going to fight Biden’s bill all the way. Of course he doesn’t say why he’s going to fight it because he can’t. There is no reasonable reason to fight it. There is only the protection of billionaires and major corporations that don’t care about the everyday guy who has lost his job and who will get a shot at a new job with this bill.

Independent reviews have shown that the bill will create over 19 million jobs, the majority of which will not require a college degree. That’s the sweet spot of current unemployment. Those are the guys who have lost their jobs to robots. Those are the jobs that are not coming back. That’s called filling a need, a need that Mitch McConnell doesn’t want to see because all those tall rich campaign donors keep blocking his view of reality.

The fact is the GOP hasn’t really got a viable reason to block the new Biden bill. In the end, that move will kill them. The people, even the Republican voters, are already against their position as is shown in the 70 & 80% polling numbers approving the bill. But what’s going on in Georgia may be the real death knell for the GOP as corporations are coming out against policies seen as GOP voter suppression that continue across the nation. Where will McConnell go when the funding dries up and the voters turn their backs on his anti-American moves?

The GOP noisemakers have their balls all in an uproar over the opposition to the 250 bills being proposed in 45 states to change voter laws and make them more restrictive.  On Sunday we watched Chris Christie and Sara Isgur Flores rave about how this bill still leaves Georgia with less restrictive laws than many states. Okay, if that’s true and it hard to accept anything that any Republican says as true based on the last four years of lies, but if it’s true that has nothing to do with the motivation for all those 250 proposed changes. None of them have anything to do with helping, cleaning or adding to security of the voting process. They are all about the fact that the GOP lost in 2020 and about how they are trying to legally rig the vote and eliminate specific voters so that they can win in 2022. The reality is that if Trump had won the presidency in 2020 there would be none of these attempts to change the law.

Christie made a big thing this Sunday of calling Biden a liar. That’s hysterical when one considers that Chris has spent the last four years kissing the ass of a scumbag that couldn’t find the truth if it was shoved up his nose.
