Bits & Pieces #110

The pig in the White House had a field day recently attacking Stormy Daniels by calling her Horse Face. Of course this isn’t new. Trump has a huge and well- documented history of attacking people about their looks and other formerly unmentionable characteristics. Probably the worst was when he went after a disabled man by mimicking his spastic condition. But that’s Trump and if you love him it only means that you’re just as despicable as he is.

But there’s another aspect to this. He slept with this woman. If he finds her so disagreeable why did he do that?  And more important why did he shell out $130,000 afterward? Is he that pathetic, that insecure, that he can only seek out second-class bed partners? Is he so awful in the sack that he has to buy all his women? It would seem so.

Trump has been very busy electioneering for GOP candidates instead of running the country. That’s fine because when he is running the country he doesn’t do much of a job. He tells all his audiences that a vote for the candidate he’s backing is a vote for him, but in the next breath he tells the world that if that candidate loses it won’t be his fault. As in everything else, Trump wants the best of both worlds. He’ll take the cheers for a victory but not the blame for a defeat. What a loser!

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell states that the ballooning deficit isn’t the GOP’s fault, despite the GOP having had control of the Presidency, the Senate and the House for the last two years. We’re giving Mitch his own spot at the Comedy Store this week. But in the meantime, his line of bullshit about it being a bi-partisan problem just doesn’t wash. How did that happen when the Democrats had nothing to say about the tax bill the Republicans are so busy bragging about, the same bill that has caused the deficit jump from $668 billion to $779 billion. McConnell would love to attack entitlements but the real problem isn’t entitlements, the real problem is the tax break that went to the top 1%. Restore those taxes and there will be a significant drop in the deficit even if we don’t touch entitlements.

Donald Trump has made a huge thing of counting Kavanaugh’s conformation in his win column. That’s interesting but not accurate. Actually, aside from nominating him, Trump had almost nothing to do with getting him confirmed. That was the work of Mitch McConnell. McConnell held up other nominations, played loose and free with Senate rules, did everything but train a machine gun on recalcitrant Senators and finally pushed the rotting hulk of Brett Kavanaugh through the process. Like everything else, Trump will take the praise but never the blame.

For those who have been critical of my comments abut the sub-human behavior of Trump’s fanatic following, I simply point to Greg Gianforte who is currently running for congress out in Montana. This is a criminal who pled guilty to assault when he beat up a reporter for asking a question about health care and Trump is praising him as a great American. Sure Trump loves him, why wouldn’t he, after all they’re both criminals.

Trump introduced him at one of those nut case rallies the other night and, based on his body slamming abilities, bragged that this wasn’t a guy to wrestle but they should vote for him. The intellectually diminished crowd went crazy. Yes, this is what we should look for in our elected officials, a baboon that reacts to a simple question by physically attacking his questioner. They are definitely a special group, Hillary’s deplorable mass.

Mitch McConnell has finally gone off the bridge. He’s currently plunging down 100 feet to the river below.  Three days or so ago he stated that because of the deficit, (which was created by the cutting of taxes to the rich) we have to cut Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Then the next day he demanded that we repeal the ACA, which will kick 20 million people off health care, and on the third day he came out in support of the lawsuit that will get rid of pre-existing conditions. Now everybody knows that McConnell feels this way but it seems to this writer that it was pretty stupid for him to actually come out and say it.

The protection provided by healthcare is the single strongest motivating factor in this election. Why would he come out and attack it? Simple. McConnell knows that the GOP has already lost the House. But that’s Paul Ryan’s job so Mitch doesn’t give a rat’s ass about that. He is fighting to protect his own job as the head of the Senate and he figures that the way to do that is to insure a few key GOP states against defeat. He desperately wants to protect West Virginia, Texas, Nevada, Wisconsin and North Dakota because if he loses any of those heavily Republican states he will lose the Senate and with it goes his job. Mitch, being the slime ball that he is, cares about nothing so much as he cares about the power and the perks he currently enjoys.

Let’s see if we can make that Prune Face collapse on Election Day.

The latest strategy of the morally & intellectually bankrupt Republican Party is to paint themselves as victims of Democratic bullying, even as Trump praises, in his address to a one step from rioting Montana mob. a true bully, Greg Gianforte

Unfortunately the response from too many Democrats is to buy this approach and try to excuse it. That’s why the Democrats lose so many elections. That’s why, if they keep apologizing, they will lose this one. Rather they should take Trump’s dead dog and shake it in his face. The Dems have the facts on their side. All they have to do is stand up on heir hind legs and throw punches.

When a Republican complains that healthcare, or Social Security will drive us further into debt, some Democrat should stand firm on the truth that the only thing that has skyrocketed the deficit was the Republican tax bill, which cut the taxes on the rich and big corporations, tax money that would have reduced the debt to a more manageable number. When the Republicans whine about Democrats allowing illegal immigrants across the border, the Dems have to strike back with the seven million jobs going begging in this country which are slowing the productivity of all our industries and that if those jobs were filled by immigrants we would all be better off; the companies would be more productive and the taxes paid by those companies and their employees would go to help reduce the debt. When the subject of education is debated all Democrats have to do is, point to the brain dead Secretary of Education, or to the need for college educations for those qualified students that currently can’t afford them to fill the higher level jobs that are currently going begging and hurting our ability to raise the GDP.

When the fat liar in the White House tells his despicable sycophants that the Democrats are allowing crime to flourish in this country it’s up to Democrats with balls to shout him down with the truth; that crime statistics are down everywhere in the country, in most places, to a low that goes all the way back to the fifties. The Democrats have to fight these battles or they are going to lose the election. Being politically correct is fine if you’re dealing with a nice, well mannered opponent but the Dems are dealing with a nasty, slimy, bunch of mouth breathing bullies and the only thing that will bring victory against this pack of mad dogs is to be tougher and more deadly than they are.

Donald Trump, the man who can’t sit still and listen to anyone for more than a few seconds, invited Kanye West to the White House to discuss criminal justice and prison reform. Then he sat still for some twenty minutes and listened to the rants of an insane man. West babbled on about almost everything but the subject of the visit and Trump just sat there and listened. If only he sat still and listened when our military was explaining what was going on in the war zones around the planet or the intelligence community explained how the world works. But no, Trump listens to a raving moron who misrepresents his people in a disturbing manner. Does Trump think he’s being progressive by allowing a nutcase to despoil the White House?

Despite the recovery of the stock market in the last week or so, the nation is still racing toward a trillion dollars debt. Going back to Ronald Reagan every GOP President has presided over rising debt and falling tax dollars thereby creating a bigger and bigger deficit. Only Clinton and Obama, the sole Democratic presidents in that period have shrunk the debt; this despite the Republican credo that it’s the Democrats who spend too much money with their socialistic programs like unemployment insurance, health care, social security and granted, many others.

What the GOP fails to recognize, (or maybe they just don’t want to) is that if we pay our fair share of taxes these programs have never put the country in debt. It’s when the GOP votes to cut taxes on the rich that we fall further and further in debt. Going all the way back to Reagan the bullshit has continued to be the same. Trickle down economics will save us, they say. It will put wealth n the hands of the rich who can then create industry that will provide jobs to pay taxes that will reduce our debt. Everybody will be great. Except that putting more money in the hands of those that already have too much just means that they save more and that does not create jobs. It just creates a richer 1%.

Just to prove that he knows nothing about the economy or much of anything else, Trump came out this week and announced that there are now over seven million jobs available in the United States. That’s more jobs than there are unemployed people to fill them. So why would the moron in the White House admit this? It just proves that his immigration policies are completely backwards and destructive. We need many more immigrants to fill those jobs even as he is arresting them and sending them back where they came from so they can do those jobs there.

North Dakota House bill 1369 indicates the necessary information that must be on a voter registration application in that state; name, address and date of birth. That’s fine but if you are a Native American living on a reservation in North Dakota you probably don’t have an address so you use Post Office boxes. That’s the catch. P.O. Boxes can’t be used on voter registration according to 1369 and that’s in addition to a homeless population that is, despite lack of housing, still entitled to vote.

So the bill attempts to take this into account by requiring supplemental information for those who can’t provide an address.  They require either a utility bill, or a bank statement, a government check made out to the person registering or a paycheck. They must then present that in a certified letter verifying their location.

Now really, if you can’t get it together to get off the reservation, do the authors of this bill think that you can provide the substitute information? I’m not going to deal with the question of whether people so limited in intellect and ability that they can’t provide the information should be considered qualified to vote here, but it is obvious that such a law was pushed through by the GOP simply to eliminate a certain segment of the population that would, under normal circumstances vote against them.

Right now that situation is highlighted by the GOP desire to defeat Heidi Heitcamp, the Democratic incumbent. After all, it’s a big oil state right now and they want to be able to have their pipelines leaking any place that’s convenient. Cutting down on the Native American vote will certainly help achieve that goal.

The Supreme Court refused to hear this case 21 days before the election so those who tried to eliminate 1369 are scrambling to get all 23,000 Native Americans without addresses registered. And that children, is how the GOP wins elections. Not by having the best candidate but by keeping the other side from voting.
