The President, in his frantic search for any approval that will enhance his chances of re-election keeps babbling about opening the country tomorrow if not earlier. Of course he is doing this in direct opposition to all intelligent medical and scientific recommendations. This last week we have seen serious reactions of disapproval to keeping the country closed and somewhat safe coming from the idiot class. There’s nothing new about this. There has always been some negative reaction to any scientific information from this same group. There are still people out there who perceive the planet as flat just because they don’t fall off.
I watched a mob in Michigan, blocking traffic and not wearing masks as they interacted in a moment of ultimate stupidity. Sure we all understand that these morons want to get out of the house because their wives are driving them nuts about taking out the garbage. These clowns live in a state with the third highest mortality rate in the country while they are only 10th in population. Doesn’t that tell them anything? And why are there assholes carrying automatic weapons in these mobs? Do they expect to shoot the virus or are they just demonstrating how their macho instincts have poisoned their brains? And the voice these idiots listen to comes from the fat liar in he Oval Office. That’s the guy who refuses to do the job he was elected to do but refuses to take any responsibility or blame for not doing it.
We know Trump didn’t want the Presidency, he just wanted the notoriety of having run. He failed into the job and has failed continually ever since. So why doesn’t he just leave, pull up stakes and run away? Pence is an awful second choice, a nauseating, ass kissing closet case, but anything is better than Trump.
And then there are the religious nuts. Yes, you all know how I feel about organized religion. I am not speaking about the belief in a God. I am speaking about the silly and often dangerous charismatic fanatics who organize weak people into religious groups. I am talking about the search for power. Due to that search, the powers that be in various religions have completely failed their own constituents by allowing, often encouraging them to ignore medical and scientific advice and gather for services. This was epitomized this past weekend in Brooklyn by the holding of organized services among the Orthodox Jewish worshipers. How hard is it for those Rabbis to understand that they are putting their faithful’s lives in jeopardy and that even within the rules of their religion those worshipers would not be held morally responsible for avoiding Suhl to protect their lives and those of the people with whom they come in contact?
Two weeks ago, in a far more egregious exhibition, a number of Protestant and Evangelical sects held crowded services in Baptist, Episcopal and Evangelical churches. Now we’re speaking of religions that are much more social organizations than true religions. Their worship is actually based more on social choices than scripture. Henry VIII’s desire for a divorce and Martin Luther’s anger at God because he couldn’t take a dump were more motivating forces for the existence of these religions than any religious principal while the motivation for last weekend’s services appear to be far more about the collection than the communion.
Interestingly enough, Roman Catholicism, the religion least flexible or amenable to outside suggestion, celebrated Easter Sunday with an empty Vatican Square and with the Pope celebrating Easter Mass in an all but empty Sistine Chapel.
To get back to the basic problem; Trump wants desperately to reopen the economy but in order to do that safely we need more information and to get that information we need more testing. Seems simple right? But Trump won’t provide the testing because he fears that something will go wrong in the process and when the testing results in the opening of the country and second wave of the virus decimates the nation, he will get the blame. This is not an unwarranted fear considering that almost everything attempted by his administration had ended in dismal failure. He wants the governors to run the tests even though they are not in the best position to do so. Why? Because he wants to get off the hook. He has sequestered himself in a place where he will accept no responsibility for anything that could happen from a job that is his responsibility.
Regardless of what I said above, we all know Trump won’t leave office. He can’t. His ego won’t let him, so we are stuck with him until he either gets voted out of office or destroys the country and his own outraged base drags him to the gibbet.

So this week the nation’s fake doctors, the TV hacks like Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz who practice medicine by selling soap, gave us a prime example of why they pull in big TV bucks instead of actually curing people. Both appeared before national audiences spewing pure unadulterated bullshit in front of their fans by stating dangerous theories in a time of crisis.
Phil was out front telling us how many die each year by way of auto accidents, gunshots and regular disease. Nowhere in his ridiculous tirade did he mention or seem to understand that none of the examples he used had any causality anywhere near that of Covid-19. Germs or anything like the virus did not cause most. You can’t catch car crash or bullets and when it comes to disease, the one’s that were mentioned have a vaccine, so social distancing isn’t necessary to slow them, there are already cures available that are not available for Covid-19. Phil really made a fool of himself but Oz went him one better when he tried to tell us that 2 or 3% of the kids who go back to school would die but that was okay if we got the economy back on track. Donald Trump may share his opinion but I really don’t think too many parents will. Oz, who maybe relates too much to his name, is a dangerous and irrational voice that should be ignored.
It’s obvious that both Phil and Oz are rich scum who have taken hits in their stock portfolios and like most rich fucks, they don’t care who suffers or dies as long as their own cash keeps flowing in. The fact that your parent or child is dying a horrible death doesn’t mean squat to them.
Network TV has a history of taking performers off the air for being too outspoken on what is conceived to be overly sensitive matters. That circumstance has only happened when a performer said something against the government. This has to Phil Donahue and Bill Maher. It would make a good balance for their stations to dump Phil and Oz. They won’t suffer too much. I’m sure they’re rich enough to survive.

The President has found himself a workable outlet for all the energy he once expended on campaign rallies. He has restarted the Presidential Press Conferences, which he had given up almost immediately upon taking office, because it exposed him to questions for which he had no answers and for which wasn’t quick enough to invent believable lies.
Now he has returned, not caring about whether or not his lies are believable but reveling in the attention that he needs to boost his fragile ego. His game plan each day is to enter to the waiting reporters, lie about what his administration is doing or has done, attack the media for noting what a failure his administration has been and as soon as a question for which he has no answer is asked, to turn on his heel and flee. It is the great punk performance of all time, especially compared to what NY Governor Cuomo does every day, which is truthful, informative and encouraging without being boastful. The biggest problem with these little theatrical events is that they are basically all lies, all created to allow Trump to deny any responsibility for a tragic situation that is almost all his fault.
