This blog has railed against the GOP for most of the Bush and Trump administrations despite the fact that I have always felt neither party is what we really need to make this country successful. Political parties should be organizations that act to produce the functionality of government. By that I mean that they should provide the organization for elections and the production of legislative planning according to their stated principals.
What they have become are power bases in which the various groups of proselytizers get together to push proposals by which each acquires and holds power regardless of the morality or constitutionality of their positions. Are they equal in this? Not as far as I can see which is why I have attacked the Republicans more than the Democrats over the past couple of decades but the differences are possibly not as great as my attacks may indicate. My problem with the GOP is that it appears to be more egregiously immoral than the Democrats. That doesn’t mean that the Democrats aren’t guilty of what can best be described as overzealous dedication to a kind of PC approach to what should or should not be done.
I watched Georgia, Secretary of State Brad Raffesperger, describe the job of political parties as “raising money and turning out the vote.” I agree. This is a pretty honest guy who is a solid conservative, who voted for Trump but who stood up to Trump when he wanted Raffensperger to do something illegal to help his failed election bid. This column disagrees with most of Raffensperger’s political philosophy but understands that he is the kind of man we need in political office.
Raffensperger is in direct contradiction with the likes of Bill Barr, Mitch McConnell, Mike Pence and Kevin McCarthy all of whom are more interested in holding onto power then they are in making the country work.
Why do I say this? Just look at what is going on in congress now as well intentioned Senators try to pass a Corona virus support bill that is desperately needed by people all across the country who are being evicted from their homes after they lost their jobs due to closing businesses. McConnell is dead set against providing the necessary money and has held up the whole process for almost half a year. Why would any well-intentioned, intelligent, human being do anything as cruel and destructive as this? The GOP is no longer the party of fiscal responsibility. It hasn’t been since Reagan was in office. The only bill the GOP passed in the four years that Trump has been in office was possibly the most fiscally irresponsible piece of legislation ever presented to a President for his signature, but it made the rich richer so Trump loved it and McConnell passed it. Now the slimy turd from Kentucky is busy taking food out of the mouths of starving children and forcing disadvantaged families out of their homes as winter and Christmas approach.
This is about power, pure and simple and it is exactly what is wrong about politics. If this doesn’t change it won’t make any difference who we elect, the whole process will continue to rot until the concept of democracy will fail.

With about 40 days left in his failed presidency Donald Trump is gathering lists of names of those he will pardon even though many of them have not even been indicted let alone convicted. It would seem amusing if it weren’t such an indication of universal criminal activity in his administration. Trump and his brats were the ones who at one point promoted the idea that claiming “the Fifth” was a tacit admission of guilt. If that’s so, what is this? Pardons by their nature are usually only given to those that are guilty, convicted and sentenced, so this move by Trump can only be construed as an admission that all those he wants to pardon in advance are guilty of crimes which when indicted will lead to conviction and sentencing. And that’s just about Federal crimes because the State crimes that Trump, his brats and Giuliani might be guilty of, are not covered by the President’s ability to pardon. Wow! The crime family, of which the brats are the fourth generation, is making the Mafia look like a religious organization.

Trump babbles that the election was rigged. In fact he screams it to the heavens. Really? So if he’s so sure the election was rigged and he’s president, he must know how it was rigged, who rigged it and how they got away with it? How come all these silly lawsuits, none of which have any proof of his demands have all been thrown out of various courts?
I don’t know abut you but if I wanted to prove something that ridiculous, I’d make damn sure that I could prove what I was babbling about, wouldn’t you? Of course you would, but he can’t. So what does that say? It says exactly what you think it says, that Trump is lying just like he has lied over 30,000 times since he took office. But none of his sycophants want to believe that, so they will continue to whine that the election was rigged just like the creepy liar in the White House does.

On February 20, 1939, Fritz Kuhn, head of the German/ American Bund, led a rally attended by 30,000 people in Madison Square Garden in NYC. He preached exactly the same political doctrine that another Nazi, Donald Drumph, did in 2016. If you don’t believe me check it out yourself. You can see an excerpt from it in John Meacham’s documentary, The Soul of America.
Kuhn laid out a program for a white-gentile America, free of foreign entanglements, cut off from the League of Nations. The only difference was that Kuhn wore a Nazi Bund uniform while Trump wears that ridiculous hair.

George Stephanopoulos had Senator Mike Braun ® Indiana on This Week, Sunday. Senator Braun is one of the more brain dead members of congress. What’s interesting about him is that he seems determined to prove his lack of intelligence with every word he utters.
You all know that George is not one my favorite pundits but he all but eviscerated Braun, proving that everything Braun said was either intrinsically false or an outright lie.
When Braun referred to the short film that showed boxes of ballots being removed from a Georgia polling place and tried to make the case that they were Trump ballots being removed to be changed, George shot him down by showing that these were just ballots being moved from one place to another to be recounted because of Trump’s fantasy and that this was the same way they were always moved.
But Braun isn’t a special case. He is just another GOP Senator who refuses to see the evidence before his eyes. Trump lost the election. They won’t accept the evidence of recounts or of Republican Governors who say there was nothing wrong with the election process, or of Republican election officials who say this was the most honest election ever. They all know Trump lost but none of them seem to be able to see that it is only their fear of his big mouth that gives him power. None of them seems to see that the moment he walks out of the White House he will lose most of that power.
Sure he’ll hold onto some of it. He will still retain some portion of the seventy million voters who voted for him but Trump has always been one of the most self-destructive clowns on the planet. Maybe it’s because he has no concept of the need for truth. Maybe it’s because he thinks of himself as God-like and cannot understand how anyone can hold his despicable actions against him.
In any case idiots like Braun will continue to try and back his ridiculous claims of a rigged election, knowing that there is no factual basis for any of that nonsense.
Having spent four years in Indiana, even though it was over half a century ago, I understand how guys like Braun get elected, but it’s going to be very difficult for the Braun train to keep chugging when Trump is spending all his time and all the money the fools are currently sending to him, to pay lawyers fees and file these baseless election fraud claims. Eventually it will become really hard to run an election campaign from a jail cell.

When the Trump administration passed on securing its full complement of vaccine from Pfizer it was only continuing a Trump policy that has existed from the beginning of the pandemic. Because he’s lazy, shiftless and stupid, Trump has never wanted to deal with the most important aspect of his skanky presidency. First he ignored the virus and then he shoved it aside, hoping it would go away by itself. And now he has ignored his responsibility to deal with distributing the cure. When Trump failed to place an order for the vaccine that Pfizer was making available to the U.S., Pfizer went ahead and sold that production to other countries leaving us short of the amount of vaccine that we would need. This is just another example of the incompetence displayed in every area by the Trump administration.
What’s even more egregious is that Trump himself, instead of trying to do something functional that would stop the advance of the disease has abandoned all responsibility, even to the point of never mentioning it in public and has thrown all his non-golf energy into his pursuit of an election already lost.
That pursuit has its own negative rewards, because it is encouraging many of Trump’s brain dead appointees to stymie the Biden team’s attempts to step into the void provided by the hapless Trump administration and get a head start on the myriad problems they will face when they take over that failed government on 1/20/21.
Trump’s attempts to lie his way back into the presidency are having a huge detrimental effect on the transition and will eventually cause incredible harm to the American people. Trump’s self-promoting actions, equate figuratively to dropping bombs on American cities. That’s the kind of harm that will be their result. Americans will die, American’s will lose their homes and livelihoods, entire industries will be destroyed, all because one man is too selfish, too egotistical and too stupid to do the job for which he was elected in the manner ordained by tradition and the Constitution. That is an almost textbook description of treason. This is especially true when one considers the armed insurrection that Trump is touting.
Because of Trump and his coterie of idiot sycophants, armed mobs are threatening American lives over what intelligent and informed citizens know to be a concluded election. What Trump is too stupid to realize is that if parts of this country rise in armed insurrection it will be at his behest and for that he must be held accountable and he must be charged with treason, for which the penalty is death.
Yes, Trump should be held accountable for all he has done or refused to do, to take care of this pandemic – leading to so many deaths. All he has done to further betrayal of this country by his pardoning people, who, if Trump cares for this country as he says he does, have betrayed Trump by betraying the country he says he loves. He must be held accountable or he has paved the way for future exploiters of our democracy and all this country has to offer its people. He will have demonstrated exactly how much one can get away with with no recourse.
