Bombing Yemen

So, Trump invaded Yemen, blasting the Houthis for their involvement in piracy in the Gulf. Yeah, Yemen. That’s about his speed. He won’t stand up to Russia or China, not when he can kiss their asses. But, like any other bully, he invades Yemen. Not that they didn’t have it coming, but in the context of what else is going on in the rest of the world, it’s a bit laughable.

And, of course, the non-functional clusterfuck of defective layabouts that we laughingly call a “Cabinet” couldn’t even invade a small loser like Yemen without screwing up by announcing to the press what we were going to do before the scheduled hit. Did anyone hang for it? Not in a Trump administration. There, loyalty trumps competence. All the assholes had to do to solidify their jobs was cuddle up and kiss the orange freak’s ass.

I don’t often have anything good to say about Marco Rubio, but I tended to agree with most of what he had to say about Mahmoud Khalil, the Palestinian student whom the administration arrested and has been trying to deport for leading demonstrations at Columbia, which damaged property and endangered and terrorized students who did not agree with him.

Khalil was here on a student visa. To get that visa, he had to tell customs officials why he was entering the United States. If he had said it was to lead demonstrations of any kind, he would not have been admitted. There is no evidence that that was his intention, but considering the outcome, it is enough for the government to get rid of him. The damage done in the Columbia riots was also a criminal act. You don’t get to destroy private property when you demonstrate. That’s a crime in this country, so he is also a criminal who tried to impose his religious beliefs on the students at Columbia. This country was founded by people who were determined to keep religion out of our politics. It hasn’t always worked, but those who believe in the constitution are still working at it.

I’m certainly not in favor of Trump’s plan to deport everyone who ever thought of coming here from another country. But we have enough bad eggs who were born here. We don’t need to import new ones.

This is not to say that there shouldn’t be dissent in this country. Now, more than ever, we need dissent from Americans who disagree with the criminal in the White House, but that’s not what the riot at Columbia was about. Jewish students were threatened. That’s not real dissension. That’s thuggery, worthy of the MAGA crowd. It’s fascinating that Trump and his punks are the ones chasing Khalil, when they are the advocates of exactly what did.

Meet The Press advertises itself as the longest-running program on television. It’s supposed to be about the press asking questions of politicians, so why do they have political people instead of reporters on the panel? Why was Sara Fagen, a political strategist, on the panel last Sunday? Was it just to do press for her party or was it to comment twice about how Elon Musk should be praised for heading up DOGE when he didn’t have to. How he was doing us a favor by contributing his valuable time to completely fuck up the government when he had nothing to gain.

This writer hadn’t paid much attention to Sara Fagen up to now, but based on the question asked, and the answer she gave, she must be one of the dumbest strategists ever to cross the pike.

Why is Musk doing this, when it takes time from being a billionaire? It’s for the same reason Trump is doing the presidency when it takes time from his golf game. It’s because both Trump and Musk are egomaniacs submerged in hubris. Being “big deals” is more important to them than breathing. The only thing that even comes close to the rush they get from being hot shots is the money they will be able to pilfer from the people who voted for Trump. Musk doesn’t need any more money; he needs power like normal people need to breathe. If Sara Fagen doesn’t understand this, she is a pretty poor strategist. I wouldn’t want her advice on anything I was doing.

Chuck Schumer has been taking a lot of shit for his vote to keep the government open because the resolution contained some stuff that Democrats don’t agree with, but it seems to this writer that keeping the government open is more important than most anything else, especially at this time when you have an unhinged President running amok and trashing the Constitution.

Schumer tells us that he voted as he did because now, more than ever, we need what there is of our government to fight Trump, Musk, and their cohorts as they attempt to destroy the nation, the constitution, and the American system so Trump can become a true dictator.

We pay congress damn fine salaries. It’s about time they earned them.

The Democrats lost control of everything but their ability to whine in the last election. It’s about time they got up off their asses and earned their pay.

The security breach perpetrated by our bumbling cabinet members is just another example of the Trump administration’s lack of ability to recognize its responsibilities in regard to national security. It harkens back to Trump’s first shot at office, when he babbled about our military plans to two Russian officers in the Oval Office. Watching the bumbling incompetents who were responsible for this monumental screw-up try to lie their way out of it is just further proof that Trump and his sycophants were incapable of surrounding themselves with a functional cabinet, undoubtedly because Trump usually chooses personal loyalty ahead of intelligence and competence. The only solution to his problem is to dump the whole crowd of terminal losers and replace them with a family of chimps. Sure, it sounds ridiculous, but consider the gaggle of baboons that he has already chosen. Can you imagine if we actually got into a war and this bunch of assholes had to run it? Catastrophe!

GOP Senator Markwayne Mullin, of Oklahoma, was on Meet the Press last Sunday, where he was asked about the security breach. In typical GOP stye, he immediately denied that any security material was breached, even though the whole thing was about our raid on the Houthis, and it happened about thirty minutes before the attack was launched. What the fuck did this moron think the meeting was about? Obviously, another Trumpian clown who can’t get out of his own way.

In the last couple of weeks, the news has been replete with instances of people being exported to San Salvador’s world- famous prison without due process. This isn’t one case but hundreds, and they aren’t accidents or mistakes as the Trump administration would have us believe. These are people whose civil rights are being deliberately violated in an attempt to frighten other potential immigrants into staying home, regardless of the conditions there. The media has managed to interview a couple of these victims of Trump’s immigration policy, two women and a man, none of whom have ties to gangs or have been convicted of any crime, and it’s obvious from their stories that all have been imprisoned without any attempt to prove they have committed any crimes. They have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time. They were picked up, denied any of their rights, and arrived in San Salvador without any attempt to prove they were guilty of anything.

In an admitted error, Trump’s Gestapo sent Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a guy who was here on a legal visa and married to a citizen, to the San Salvador hellhole. Now, they claim they can’t get him out because the guy who runs the prison isn’t cooperating, and Garcia faces spending the rest of his life there. What inhuman bullshit. Trump has obviously made a deal to pay this guy big bucks to imprison everybody we send him. Does Trump really expect us to believe this degenerate won’t cooperate? That he will risk an easy payday for any reason? Trump may be stupid enough to believe his own bullshit, but that doesn’t mean anyone else does.

Before Trump started his second term, we were the richest, most powerful country in the world. We got that way by being a nation of laws, not governed by our leader’s personal desires. That’s why other nations and their leaders have trusted us and followed us. From day one, Trump has worked to destroy that trust and confidence, and it’s starting to work. We are now a nation that others look at cautiously and with mistrust, and they do so because of what has happened to people like Kilmar Garcia.

If that’s the kind of country you want to live in, that’s fine, just remember, tomorrow it could be you.
