Creating His Own Deckine

After all the disgusting criminal behavior he has exhibited over a wasted life, Donald Trump has topped it all off with his latest attempt to once again use a foreign government to influence an American election. Of course it’s not his lowest, most degenerate act; that was probably ripping children from the arms of their mothers so that he could build his idiotic wall, but it is one more, hopefully final act in a criminal career that dwarfs those of Al Capone and Meyer Lansky.

Trump has never had any respect for the law or for the rights of others. His only consideration from the very beginning of his criminal activities has been simply getting what he wants. Everything else just goes by the wayside. This latest example of his complete lack of consideration for what is right and wrong is a prime example.

He had, because of a combination of an incompetent presentation of the Mueller report and the false presentation of its contents by a hopelessly compromised Attorney General, escaped criminal action.

Instead of taking a deep breath and thanking his lawless associates for getting him off what should have been a criminal indictment or at the very least impeachment, he turned around a day later and tried to extort the President of a foreign country into digging up non-extant dirt about VP Joe Biden and his family.

The arrogance and frankly the gross stupidity of such a move is beyond comprehension. The Democrats, strictly for political reasons ,were trying their incompetent best to avoid any attempt at impeachment, but Trump, in a move that screams psychopath, is forcing them, kicking and screaming, to impeach.

This is a man who listens to no one, who refuses to learn anything, who seeks only his own biased and useless council. So is it any wonder that he has accomplished absolutely nothing during his term in office? Is it any wonder that he has weakened our nation and in fact frayed the bonds that had been forged by almost eighty years of functional diplomacy to hold a hostile world together? Trump stumbles through the world like a ruptured hippo, lurching from one chaotic situation to another and making everything worse.

Is there any area of our national scene that anyone can point to and say it is better than when Trump took office? Don’t point to the economy. Yes, Trump is trying his best to claim it, but anyone with even a basic knowledge of economics understands that it was the work of Barak Obama. And even though it has, thus far help up, Trump is trying his blundering best to destroy that too.

Now, as if to prove he is the dumbest guy in the room, he admits to criminal and impeachable behavior and allows the moron Giuliani to babble away on national TV, further involving both of them in something that should result in impeachment for Trump but could end of with both of them in jail.

And if you are one of those Retrumplicans that wants to believe that all of Trump’s criminal and traitorous behavior is just the result of political attacks by the Democrats, think on this.

At the end of the Mueller hearings Trump was pretty much off the hook. Pelosi didn’t want to go near impeachment, Bill Barr’s lying description of the Mueller report had pretty much cooled the jets of those who hoped it would prove fatal for The Donald and it looked like the fat liar in the Oval Office would survive at least until the elections. But Trump is too stupid, too egomaniacal to just take a win.

In his criminal mind, bribery and extortion are not crimes but just a normal way to do business, so when the opportunity to force the Ukrainian President to do something for him, Trump couldn’t resist. His motto is; “Who cares if it’s a crime if I want it.” So now he has an impeachment brewing that the Democrats didn’t want and he can’t afford.

Those who felt that an impeachment for Trump would be bad for the Democrats are wrong. They will now have the opportunity to drag out every degenerate act that Trump has perpetrated on the American public since he infected the White House. They can play them over and over; not for Trump’s base who are too stupid to understand and too self involved to care, but for the benefit of those middle ground voters who are still unconvinced. This will be the closer and the death knell for Trump’s chances in 2020.

And the beauty of it all is they never have to bring it to a vote. All they have to do is drag it out until August of next year and then Nancy Pelosi can announce, in her best Moscow Mitch voice, that it is now too close to an election to continue. Then she’ll shut it all down, never giving Trump a chance to be exonerated but leaving his bad taste in everyone’s mouth. It could even be the death of the GOP chances to keep the Senate. That would, at least, give the nation a chance to actually fix all the crap that has gone wrong in the last forty or fifty years. Wouldn’t that be nice!

An interesting sidelight or maybe the proof of the pudding came from Chris Christie just before the contents of the President’s call to Zelensky were released. Christie was talking about how Trump never says that he really means but knows how to hint around a subject.

Christie said that unless Trump actually asked for “a favor” he was off the hook. Then the contents of the call were released with Trump saying, “Do us a favor,” just before asking Zelensky to dig up dirt on Biden even as he was withholding the taxpayer, congressionally assigned money he was supposed to send to Ukraine. Open mouth – insert foot!

So now an arrogant and ignorant Donald Trump has forced a reluctant Democratic House into impeachment proceedings. The big question becomes, what will Republicans in the Senate do when faced with an indictment. If they are smart and many of them aren’t, they will look to the Republican voters for an indication of how they feel. Now, GOP voters have been supporting Trump at an approximately 85% rate. That’s pretty impressive but that’s not all base. There are many in that 85% who are still with Trump simply because they are Republicans and always vote that way. Many of those still retain some sense of morality and patriotism. As the impeachment proceedings progress and the mountains of evidence showing Trump’s immorality, criminality, incompetence and greed begin to pile up that impressive percentage will inevitably begin to erode. As it slides from the mid 80’s toward the 60’s, GOP support in the Senate will begin to erode at an even faster clip.

Don’t forget, Trump isn’t a real Republican. He never was. He had always been a Democrat. He had supported Democratic causes and contributed to Democratic candidates. No, he didn’t believe in them as has been demonstrated by the way he has conducted himself while in office but he lived and worked in New York City, a stronghold of Democratic politics and because he possesses a criminal mind he operated in that city like any criminal, suppressing his own desires in order to achieve his goals.

Trump only became a Republican because he realized he could never gain support for his goals in politics from the Democrats. He had already established himself as a racist with his birther campaign against Obama.  He figured the GOP wouldn’t care about his morals as long as they thought he could win. He was right!

There are many in the GOP that are not among his base and understand this and abandon him as soon as he weakens. The second Trump’s backing becomes a liability, these Senators will be gone and that, specifically, is what has Trump terrified.

In his own criminal mind, Trump understands that there is a certain percentage of the Senate that only follows him because they are afraid his opposition will cost them their cushy, well paying jobs and the minute he loses that power, they will dump him like a dirty diaper.

For the first time since his election, that possibility exists. Now the question becomes, is there someone in the Democratic Party that can manipulate it to their advantage? If there is Trump is dead in the water and that brings up the subject of VP Mike Pence.

The question there is; did Trump already stick a knife in Pence’s back by hinting that he too was doing Trump’s dirty work in Ukraine? Has Trump already set up Pence to get impeached too? And if that is actually what Trump did, was it because he figured that the GOP would never leave him if they even imagined that Pence would go too, leaving Nancy Pelosi as next in line for the Presidency?

It’s an interesting concept. Many would say that Trump just isn’t bright enough to have worked it out but there are also those that understand the devious criminal mind and they might be inclined to buy this approach.

Hang onto your hats, fans. It’s going to be a very interesting ride.
