Give Us Oil Not Immigration

Well, now that the election is out of the way it’s time for all those congressmen who were elected to end our inability to get anything done, to get to work. So with immigration, minimum wage, infrastructure, gerrymandering, etc, all to be faced and solved, what do they come up with as their first agenda; The Keystone Pipeline. Yeah, that’s right, the biggest and only item on the Right’s agenda just happened to be the hot item with the boys who pay their real salaries, the oil cartel.

Don’t get this wrong people. This isn’t an anti-environmental issue. It’s a pro oil issue. It’s about money and profit and f***k the rest of the world. The oil barons don’t want to actively harm the environment. They don’t care about the environment, except as it gets in the way of their profits and they have laid down the law to the legislators who they have been supporting for the last six years and who have not gotten the pipeline approved. The war in the Middle East can go to hell. So can the environment, the minimum wage, immigration, education and everything else. This piece of useless and destructive legislation must pass and must pass now, because the lords of oil need bigger yachts.

They will bullshit the people that it will create jobs, but it won’t. It will create some jobs during construction. Hell, anything you build will create some short-term jobs. If it’s jobs they’re looking for why not fix our crumbling infrastructure? Besides, most of the construction jobs will go to Canadians. All the higher-level jobs will go to those already in the employ of Trans-Canada, as will a goodly number of mid-level jobs. That will leave a small number of the state department announced 42,000 jobs that could be created for less than a couple of months.. They will all be lower level jobs at minimum wage. There will actually, according to the same State Department announcement be 35 permanent jobs created by the project. That’s right suckers, 35 permanent jobs, less than the staff of a McDonald’s, and the trade off will be the poisoning of the Oglalla Aquifer, our biggest mid-west water resource, and destruction of the mid-west water supply for years. That will happen when the pipe, as all pipes do, breaks and pours millions of gallons of the most toxic oil on earth into our rivers and water supplies.

With all the important things for congress to get into, Boehner and McConnell have stopped to kiss the asses of the oil-a-garchs who slip them enough under the table to solidify their sleazy jobs, thereby, showing the world how little they care for the needs of the American people and how much they care for anointment by the greedy pigs that keep them in limos and hot blondes.

Everybody in congress is whining that Obama’s position on immigration is going to put them in a tough place. Well, isn’t that too bad? The Republicans have had years to fix immigration and they have done squat. Now they say that Obama is holding their feet to the fire and they will retaliate. The history of this issue clearly showed that if nothing was done by the President, nothing would be done at all, so the Right has no one to blame but itself that Obama did something on his own. They can claim whatever they want, but there is truth and there are lies and nothing is going to change that, no mater how much the GOP lies and cries.

Boehner says that the President, acting on his own is the wrong way to govern but he has no concept of a right way to govern. Congress’s inactivity has forced Obama to do this. Both Bush and Reagan did the same thing that Obama did and congress didn’t get its balls in an uproar. Is it Boehner’s position that it’s legal for a president to act on his own initiative if he’s a Republican but not if he’s a Democrat?

When the senate carved out a bill and the GOP said it couldn’t include gays, the Democrats said okay. When the Right said it couldn’t include everyone, the Left said okay, when the Right said that we had to do it in bits and pieces, the left said okay. Each time the Left said okay the Right still refused to act. That’s why the President acted. The Republicans can’t be trusted to act. They can’t be trusted to do what they have promised to do. They have no sense of duty or moral imperative, so someone, in this case the President, acted for the benefit of the country, while the Republicans refuse to act or do much of anything except whine.

The senate passed immigration reform more than a year and a half ago. Why hasn’t the House acted on it? Why haven’t they passed it, because no one expects them to pass it. Why, while they have voted 50 times to abolish the ACA haven’t they voted even once on the Senate Immigration bill?

When asked this question the Republicans have no answer. They speak in political riddles but never in cooperative or legislative terms. I watched Tom Cole of Texas slither under the rocks of political double talk for over three minutes and never answer that question, why hasn’t the House acted. He didn’t answer it because he can’t without admitting that the Right just doesn’t want immigrants to get a chance, that the Right doesn’t want all those brown people to be American citizens and then vote for the Democrats. If the Right can keep them from attaining citizenship it will have kept that many Democratic voters from reaching the polls. That’s the real answer, that and the desires of the Right’s red neck base that is afraid of having any competition for those low end jobs that despite their advantages of being born white and here, are the only jobs they are fit for.

The first thing that the Right talks about is starting with a big border bill. How the hell much protection do we need at that lousy border? We just put thirty thousand more guards on the border. If they can’t protect it fire them and find guys who can. We now have the equivalent of one guard every two blocks. What the hell does the Right want, idiots standing shoulder to shoulder? No, that’s not what they want. What they want is to deport all those who have lived here and raised families here for generations, those who didn’t apply for or couldn’t get citizenship. What they want is to keep these people illegal and without the vote. That’s the whole deal and anyone who doesn’t admit to that is lying to himself as much as he is lying to us.

Mike McCaul one of the more brain dead members of congress, spoke out once again, whining about more border security. We actually have one of the most secure borders in the world, especially considering that we are one of the few countries that people are actually trying to get into. Only the Berlin Wall was more secure than what we have along the Mexican border. Most of the illegal immigrants in this country flew into one of our airports as a tourist and then just disappeared into this huge country. McCaul isn’t bright enough to realize this. He still sees all these brown people, including the ISIS fighters and the ones with Ebola pouring across the Rio Grande and stealing his gardening job.

It’s not hard for people who have any intelligence to see what is actually going on here. No matter what they say, the Republicans don’t want an immigration bill. Their sponsors want the immigration situation to stay exactly where it is, providing them with cheap and easily bullied labor, allowing them to use that cheap labor to push down wages of legal workers across the board and boost their profits.

The nuts on the Right who can’t see the importance of the immigration bill are already talking impeachment. Of course they don’t know what the reasons for impeachment are but information never matters to stupid people. The really dangerous ones are talking about shutting down the government. These are the ones who don’t believe in the definition of insanity, repeating an action and expecting a different result. Even those who have intellects to low to read history or more important understand it, should remember back a couple of years to see how successful the last shutdown was. I personally believe that any congressman who votes for shutting down the government should be arrested on grounds of treason because those fools are doing more to attack this country than any terrorist or spy who has ever been convicted of that offense.

Look, the President is elected to make the country work. That’s his job, run the country. Congress is elected to give the president the means to make the country work, the laws, the prohibitions, etc. The Supreme Court is appointed to tell both that they have stepped out of line. Right now congress isn’t working. Boehner has had a bill, passed by the Senate on his desk for a year and a half. It’s his job to let the House vote on that bill, not to obstruct that function of congress. He hasn’t done that so it became the President’s job to make the country work. That’s what he is trying to do. It’s as simple and as complicated as that. All the rhetoric, all the bullshit, all the obfuscating won’t change that, it will just obscure the fact tat Congress just isn’t doing its job.
