It really grinds my ass that the Republican leaders are such effective liars, and that the American public is so ill informed and so gullible that they immediately buy any bullshit the GOP feeds them. This is particularly true in economic situations about which most people are just overwhelmingly ignorant.
This has become a real problem for Joe Biden as his performance ratings have dropped to a dismal low based on false appraisals of his leadership of the economy. Most of this is based on the incorrect assumption that he is responsible for the current inflation that is making it extremely hard for many of our citizens to keep their heads above water financially.
What the public doesn’t understand, and what the GOP is very busy lying about, is where the real responsibility lies.
Yes, Joe has some responsibility, and sure he could do more, but no matter what he does he can’t undo all the knots left behind by Donald Trump, which are tying up our economy.
One of the causes of inflation was really set up long before Biden took office. It happened when Trump was busy creating unnecessary tariffs to show us what a tough guy he was and how he thought he could intimidate China. Unfortunately, Trump wasn’t intelligent enough to know that tariffs are really a tax on those who are receiving the goods being traded, not those who are selling them. The costs of the tariffs are included in the sale prices of the goods, which when levied becomes a base for inflation.
Reversing most of the Trump tariffs right now would reduce inflation by more than 3%, which means our inflation number of around 8% would be lowered by more than one third. It’s something Biden has spoken of and something he can and should do immediately. Another thing he can do is open up immigration, especially for blue collar workers. That would add thousands of lower cost workers to jobs that are currently going begging.
Another thing he can do, although fraught with problems, is freeze gas prices. No President likes to make a move like that but in this case, it will not only reduce inflation it will also help the ecology.
Then of course, after Biden does some of this stuff, the Democrats will have to figure a way to inform the American public of all the good things their President is doing to help them out. This is a job at which they have ,been dismal.

Contrary to current messaging by the GOP, Uvalde inspired bi-partisan groupings of congressmen are not avoiding the passage of significant legislation to control gun killings. They are actually working very hard to waste time until we forget about the latest murder of children and go on to something else. The GOP will never help to stop the proliferation of guns. It’s just not in their DNA. Gun violence has increased 30% just since 2019, even as gun laws across the country have been weakened by Republican controlled state legislatures.
Chris Murphy talks a lot about what Democrats currently want to do but it’s all hopeless, as long as we need 60 votes in the Senate to make any changes.
Ted Cruz tells us it’s not about guns, but Cruz hasn’t told the truth about anything since his mother whelped him. It’s all about guns. We’re just afraid that if we try to get rid of the guns instead of beating around the bush with crap about tests and mental health we will, just as in all the past, get nothing done. The tests and background checks are important too, but they will not solve the problem if the killers still have guns.
All the talk about the fall of the NRA sounds good but the NRA isn’t the problem. The Problem is the GOP in congress. They are killing gun legislation while also stopping Universal Healthcare, sensible abortion legislation, early childhood care and middle-class friendly tax policy, everything, in fact, that doesn’t help millionaires. The only solution is to get all these stupid, regressive, degenerate assholes out of government. It’s your only chance to save those children that haven’t already been killed by the guns that have so far kept our GOP congressmen rich.
Why does congress exist if not to carry out the will of the majority of the people?
Everyone asks; what is Biden doing? It isn’t up to Biden. He may have the bully pulpit but he’s still only one vote. We need to get hundreds of thousands out to the polls so we can decimate all the GOP candidates down to Garbage supervisor.
There are over 350,000,000 guns in this country right now. That’s probably more than they have in Ukraine on both sides. Who the fuck are we at war with that we need this kind of armament?
I just watched a man on the tube who is fighting the gun problem talk about coming together to solve the gun problem. He’s why nothing works. He has no idea what he’s fighting against. The Republicans are going to smile and shake his limp hand and tell him all kinds of fairy tales even as they vote down any kind of gun legislation that would have done any good. We’ve had decades to come together. Now we must stomp the living shit out of any Republican who is running for office. We must get all those kids who are just starting to vote, after childhoods traumatized by gun violence, out to the polls by the hundreds of thousands to brutalize these selfish, greedy scum who have been putting them in danger.
The Republicans are so used to bullshitting around the problem, that they no longer know how they feel about guns, only about how they feel about the money that comes to them from pro-gun sources. That’s why they must go.
Hours before the murders in Texas, a mentally deranged man invaded a school in Bejing. He injured many of the children before he was caught but none of them were killed. Maybe it was because he only had a knife. He couldn’t get a gun in China. They used to be allowed only one kid per family in China, so one kid is a big deal. The GOP figures that in this country, we usually have a couple to spare.

A lot of them are fairly small companies but they make a lot of money. The typical AR-15 sells for between $1,500 and $3,000. Then you have to buy ammo which isn’t cheap. After all, these companies have huge expenses, especially for lobbyists, who are the ones greasing our congressmen. Besides under the counter payments for campaign expenses and just plain graft, the lobbyists try to keep the gun makers out of any kind of trouble.
I’m talking about the suit in which the Sandy Hook parents won a $73 million award against Remington, who made the gun that was used to murder 20 children and six adults. The problem for Remington wasn’t that they made the gun which is protected by a significantly egriegious piece of GOP passed legislation, but how they advertised it, appealing to its kill power and to the sick minds of its purchasers.
I cannot fathom the indifference, the contempt, and the hatred that the GOP levels at the rest of the world, nor the sheer selfishness of their attitudes and actions.
