The Court, the Economy & Guns!

Congressman Jamie Raskin, speaking on the tube this week, spoke to the fact that Trump has basically indicted himself by the statements he made on TV and other publically recorded media. But when Raskin was asked to lay it on the line he demonstrated why the Democrats are floundering at the polls. When he was asked whether or not Merrick Garland should indict Trump, he displayed that typical Democratic lack of killer instinct that seems to haunt the party. He hemmed and hawed and blathered about his purpose on being on the committee but he never said, “Yes! Hang the bastard.” That’swhat needs to be said if the Dems ever want to inspire a voting public to get off their assess and vote in this mid-term election.

I know that the members of the committee probably aren’tsupposed to jump their revelations, but the public just isn’tinto subtlety. They are tired of politicians finding multiple ways to say what needs to be said without saying what needs to be done. Trump, as big a lying sociopath as he was, got people to vote for him by just saying what it looked like he meant, even if they knew it was a lie.

When Biden appointed Merrick Garland Attorney General, most people figured that, here was a guy who was bitter enough about his treatment by Mitch McConnell in the SCOTUS appointment that he would be looking to bite the nuts off every Republican in Washington.  What we got instead is a big nothing burger. Sure, he indicted over 800 punks in the Jan,6 mess, but those were small time street trash – cannon fodder. What we wanted to see was the justice department indicting the criminals behind the attempt at a coup, the degenerates who tried to take away our Democracy. We wanted to see Trump, Miller, Eastman, Meadows, Bannon, Flynn, Powell, McCarthy, Giuliani and the rest of those crooks in cuffs, being perp walked out of government buildings, on their way to the hoosegow. That hasn’t happened because the Democrats are too cowardly too make it happen.

The laws that men create to protect civilization from chaos must be upheld. When anyone commits a violation of those laws and goes unpunished or at the very least unindicted, it is a clear message to those that break the law that they are free to do so whenever they feel like it.

Those punks in the Outhouse Keepers and the Bullshit Brigade were willing to put their bodies on the line for a lie they foolishly believed. It’s the white-collar criminals who wanted to overthrow the government without getting their hands bloody that really need to get hung.

There were 372,000 jobs added in Jun.  Of the jobs lost in the pandemic 98% have been recovered. Gas prices are dropping. There is still inflation but it looks like it’s shrinking.

So how do you explain the low consumer confidence?  Simply speaking, prices are too high and it will take time to get them to drop. No one wants to give back gains they have achieved even if that achievement is based on a false economy that cannot and should not be sustained.

Two major factors affecting the current economy are computer chips that are in almost everything that is being made today and drugs. No, not that kind!

The chip shortage comes from China which has been hit hard by the plague but that can be overcome by a big push by American industry to replace the Chinese chips in American factories at the Chinese price. That’s the problem industrialists are facing now and if they can’t meet the challenge they should be replaced by a new generation of entrepreneurs.

The drug problem is even more political than the chips. Congress, with just enough Republicans to keep it from getting anything done, has stymied any attempt to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices. This one is simple. Elect enough Democrats to give them big majorities in both houses and your drug prices will go down. It’s just a reality, along with favorable gun, abortion, education, immigration and fuel legislation.  It will also change the Supreme Court when the next Republican drops dead or gets impeached.

Shinzo Abe, Japan’s greatest Prime Minister was assassinated this week and it is a huge loss for Japan and the world. Abe, who came from a family of leaders and statesmen, was one of the great thinkers of the political world. He was responsible for the idea behind the Quad, the organization of Japan, The U.S., India and Australia as well as the economic and security pacts that went with it. He understood the need to balance the power of China and her obvious expansion dreams. He had the intelligence to conceive ways to accomplish it and the strength to lead other nations to form the pacts needed too achieve peace and economic security.

During a debate on the gun problem on This Week, host George Stephanopoulos stated clearly that we would never get the American public to back the reduction of gun ownership. This is exactly why it will never happen. If men like Stephanopoulos with his enormous audience give up and preach defeat they will kill an already badly wounded cause. No matter what else we do to stem the tide of gun death we must never stop trying to get the guns out of the wrong hands. Don’t forget, most people in this country want more gun control. If we get them out to vote, we can make it happen.

The GOP never gave up on “Settled Law” and they finally got their anti-abortion agenda to work. The rest of the nation has to take a clue from them and fight the same way, yes, illegally if need be, to remove tools of death from the hands that should never have held them.

We must never say that the useless piece of garbage congress passed on gun reform is okay because its not. It will be a miracle if it saves one life because it doesn’t take the guns away from those who shouldn’t have them. In the case of automatic weapons that’s everyone. Getting converts because their kid got blown away in a school shooting is the wrong way to do it, but I’ll take it if it saves some other person’s kids.

SCOTUS’s anti-climate decision has dealt a deathblow to the future of the planet. Is it possible that the 5 individuals that make up the Supreme Court majority are so out of touch with reality? This decision alone should be enough to impeach every justice that voted against the future of mankind.
