Treason Season

To hang or not to hang, it’s still the question and going forward it’s going to demand an answer. The world stood by in shocked dismay Monday as the American President betrayed his own intelligence community, discarded their extensive work and took the word of a degenerate murderer over theirs. He gave “aid and comfort to the enemy.” In case you haven’t looked it up yourself, that’s the definition of TREASON!

No, it’s no surprise. Trump has been talking this way since he was a candidate but certain voters still chose to support him because he promised them things they wanted more than a free country.

When it was announced that Trump was going into a meeting with Putin in Helsinki this week there was an awful lot of wild conjecture about what could or couldn’t be done at that meeting. Democratic senators were asking for accusations to be made against Putin for hacking our elections. He has already denied this once so it was pretty certain he wouldn’t be confessing to anything that would make the Dems happy. Democratic senators were asking for extradition of the Russian military intelligence officers who have been named in the Mueller indictments. Yeah, that’s really going to fly. It always depresses me when I see the Democrats doing something so obviously political that has no function.

Those who asked that Trump cancel the meeting were naïve in their desires. Trump wanted this meeting because he thinks he and Putin can actually be friends. He doesn’t understand that Putin thinks of him as an asset, not a person. Of course if they can’t be friends Trump will then be able to brag and lie about how he told Putin off. The Helsinki meeting was just the culmination of a series of meetings starting in Singapore with Kim Jong Un, continuing through Brussels and London attacking NATO allies all of whom have been completely screwed up by Trump’s inability to tell the truth or settle on one strategy for any given situation.

So as we flounder about in the show biz of Trump’s meeting agenda, we have to accept a couple of things as reality. Trump is not going to push the agenda of Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference into our elections. Another is that the North Koreans aren’t giving up their nuclear weapons just because Trump announced that; “we can all sleep now.” That’s the reality but not as big a deal as the Trump people made it seem when they thought they had a deal. No one was really losing sleep over Kim’s threats because he has no real threat to make. Not in the face of our enormous nuclear arsenal. Kim got his meeting and now he is going to drag this out in hopes that he gets some significant help on the economic home front. That’s what this whole nonsense has been about anyway.

Having failed in Singapore and having wet the bed in Brussels and London Trump went on to Helsinki hoping for another photo op be could lie about. He set up Helsinki so that no one but he and Putin would actually know what transpired at their meeting. That way they could both lie their asses off and here would be no one to prove otherwise. This allowed Trump to put any kind of spin on anything that he wanted to say and there would be no one to refute it, just as as there was no one to refute any of the lies he told about his meeting with Kim Jong-Un.

So they had their two hours alone and then they came out for a press conference. Guess what the first questions were about. Why is it that Donald Trump, despite all the evidence, continues to accuse the Democratic Party of causing its own problems? Yes we know they do cause a lot of their own problems but Trump always picks the wrong ones. All the forensic evidence is there. Mueller’s got names, dates, how they did it and why they did it, what else can you need?

So why does Trump refuse to accept the reality thrust in front of him? We all know the Trump has no way to associate with normal reality but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t even recognize it.

Putin is a bad actor. Nowhere near enough space to list all his violations of the peace but how about invading Ukraine, shooting down a Czech airliner, poisoning English citizens or hooking up with scum like Abbas in Syria. So why should he be believed? About anything!! Yet Trump is willing to take his word over that of our own intelligence and law agencies. That is called “giving aide and comfort to the enemy,” because make no mistake about it, Russia is our enemy.

What’s really amazing about this whole thing is that on Friday when Mueller indictments came out on the Russian group, Republicans in the house didn’t applaud, didn’t call for new sanctions against Russia, did nothing except attack Mueller for a phony witch hunt.  The Republican Party used to be the party that was red, white and blue to the core, but now is the party that just wants to kiss Trump’s ample orange ass.

Even a jughead like Trey Gowdy has finally gotten it, finally gets that the Russians actually did hack into our elections so if even a clown like him can finally understand, there may be hope for the Trump base.  You have to remember that Gowdy is the guy who couple days ago was screaming for the end of the Mueller investigations talking about how they were just a witch hunt and how it would never amount to anything and had no evidence of anything. Now he’s seen the evidence and to his credit has been able to change his mind, has been able to deal with those changes just like a sentient human being.

Unfortunately the President doesn’t fall into a sentient human being category. He can sit, staring at evidence that would convict in any court in the world but if it doesn’t match u with his needs of the moment he won’t recognize or accept it. Worse, there are far too many of our congressmen on the Republican side that still feel the same way the President does. They’re willing to back him and his stupidity as far as it and his lies will take us. That’s why there are Republicans on the hill trying to impeach Mueller and Rosenstein despite all the evidence they have brought forth despite the 25 odd Russians that are involved and despite indictments and guilty pleas from Americans who were in Trump’s closest circle.

So what is the American public supposed to doo? Well, it’s time to stop sitting around complaining about Trump. It’s time to put him in jail. His actions in Helsinki establish him as a man with no loyalty to his country or its allies. His actions there are the epitome of treason. His actions previously have been a model of everything a President should not be; dishonest, self-serving, ego maniacal and criminal. He has already established himself in the minds of most thinking people as the worst president in our history and that takes some doing.

It seems impractical to expect any kind of real movement before the Mueller hearings finish, but since we are dealing with a maniac it wouldn’t be surprising if he did something even more outrageous that his rant in Helsinki or even maybe moved to fire Rosenstein or Mueller. That would possibly motivate even the most heartless Republicans to move against him. That would probably allow the Dems to organize enough GOP House members to impeach and enough Senate members to convict, something that before this week was seen as impossible.

Before the quadruple play of Singapore, Quebec, Brussels and Helsinki it would have been impossible to garner enough votes in the House or Senate to accomplish anything.  But now, Trump’s quadruple suicide attempt has left the door open to almost anything.

There were many of us who had hoped that he could be allowed to stumble along, not doing too much irreparable damage until the end of his term but Trump seems determined to force everyone’s hand. His post meeting speech in Helsinki revealed a stumbling; stuttering, lying, completely out of control mad man. He was practically drooling and there was no discernable point just like there is no discernable point to Trump’s Presidency, and no reason outside of cowardice to let him remain in office and further damage our country.

This is not Trump’s country. He displays no hint of the attributes that are part of the American character. He is a criminal con man with racist tendencies; a bullying bigot and misogynist who wouldn’t know the truth if it were stuck in his throat and a self-serving thief who has used this Presidency only to achieve his personal aims with no thought to what might be best for the nation. It appears the chant should be—Lock him up!
