Double Haters

Martha Raddatz did a piece on the “double haters” this weekend. Those are the people who do not want either Biden or Trump as candidates.

When asked what they plan to do about this problem, they ae truly stuck for an answer. That’s because none of them understand the concept of limited choice.

Raddatz spoke to three voters, a college student and a middle-aged man and woman, all from Virginia.

The woman had worked for Nikki Haley who lost the prmary, and is now left clueless. She voted for Trump in 2016 and didn’t vote in 2020. With her first choice now defeated, she doesn’t know what to do. How about move on? That’s what a thinking person does. It isn’t whether the choices available are your favorite choices, it’s about what is the best choice available. That’s what all life is about.

The college student seems best adjusted to this reality. He isn’t crazy about either Biden or Trump, but he leans to Biden because he thinks that Trump is an impossible choice, and he understands his duty to vote.

The middle-aged man is crippled in his choices because he seems to base all his decision making on the tenants of his Muslim religion and the problems that the Muslim community is now facing. He does this to the exclusion of all other aspects of the electoral race and its candidates which has resulted in a decision not to vote at all, or to possibly vote for a third-party candidate, which is the same thing.

I find it fascinating that no one who I have heard express an interest in voting for a third-party, that has no chance of winning, seems to understand that such a vote is,

in reality, a vote against the candidate who would ordinarily be their choice. This is especially true in this election. The No Labels or RFK JR candidates are nothing but ego trips. They represent no new or well identified ideas. They have nothing to add to the process. They are here simply because someone likes to see his or her picture in the papers with “Presidential Candidate” as the caption.

The noise about TIK TOK has become deafening. The House had almost universally condemned the Chinese App with a 98% majority in their vote against it, leaving us to wonder how will the Senate react to it?

The big argument against the bill is on the question of free speech, but by restricting ownership to non -Chinese companies free speech principals are not violated. Who owns the company has nothing to do with what they say. Therefore, what must be considered first and foremost is national security.  Byte Dance, the Chinese company that currently owns TIK TOK, has been proven to have lied during investigative hearings about its involvement in obtaining information on its subscribers. This information was subsequently made available to the Chinese government. Considering the Chinese communist government is openly hostile to the U.S. this cannot be allowed to continue. The current bill is a way to, at least partially, control the leakage of information without invading free speech. Opponents of the bill like Senator Ro Khanna, whose representation of Silicon Valley makes his opposition to the bill highly suspect, would be better off pointing their efforts in another direction.

Donald Trump’s raving, insane rallies are getting worse. This week he called those convicted of trying to break into the capitol and attacking police, patriots, and heroes. He has already said he would pardon them if elected.

His Vice-President, Mike Pence, who was at the Capitol that day doesn’t agree with Trump about these punks being patriots and has refused to endorse him in the coming election.

Then there’s the word “bloodbath.” Trump used it the other night in a part of his rant that dealt with the auto industry and the Democrats picked it up and ran with it claiming all kinds of horrors from the maniac if he were elected. Now there certainly will be all kinds of horrors from Trump if the American public is dumb enough to elect hm, but this particular insane wail was definitely about the auto industry and not a cry for a civil war if he is not elected.  That is not to say he will not promise this in the future. He has already hinted at it numerous times and we all know he’s crazy enough to incite it. I mean, this is a sociopathic racist that calls people who have traveled thousands of miles to get a better life, “animals,” and states that they are not human. I still don’t understand how there is anyone out there who can ignore this kind of racist hate and vote for a crazy man like Trump.

Many Americans are rethinking our support of Ukraine because they are very shortsighted. They don’t seem to understand that our money is being spent in lieu of our young people getting shot at by Russian troops. Donald Trump keeps telling us that he would consider a loan, but he will never do anything to help Ukraine. He just wants to kiss the ass of Vladimir Putin and the way to do that is by shutting off Ukraine funds.

But even more important, those who agree with Trump don’t understand that most of the money being sent to Ukraine is actually being spent in the U.S. Those weapons Ukraine is buying are coming from American gun manufacturers and paying the salaries of American labor, so it just adds to our GDP.

Sure, there are many other things that we could do with that money to help Americans but employing American labor that works in our weapons industry is a plus and kicking Russia out of Ukraine is a bigger plus, for us and for all of Europe.

The Trump circus goes on. The judges have ordered him to pay a half a billion-dollar bond. His lawyers claim that he doesn’t have it and can’t get it. He claims that he has it in cash. Who’s telling the truth?  Probably no one. The commentators claim that he is about to sell his Truth Social app for something like five billion bucks, but others point out that he would not be able to turn it into cash fast enough because the SEC has rules that prevent it.

So, what’s really happening? Again, no one really knows, probably not even Trump, but that won’t keep him from lying about everything he talks about and maybe that will be the last nail in his coffin. As stated above, he has testified, at different times, that he does and doesn’t have the money to pay the bond. Michael Cohen suggests that this constitutes perjury. Are we in line for a fifth trial? Does the future of the American judicial system face a traffic jam of Trump cases that will clog it up for years? Can the Democrats figure out a way to educate the American voters as to what really makes Biden a better choice than Trump. Tune in next week when we try once more to figure this all out.
