It’s All About Power

John Bolton’s book, submitted to the White House back in December, but which they claim no one there has read, hit the Times this weekend and it got everybody’s balls in an uproar. The problem for the Republicans is that Bolton was actually there when all the fun happened. He is what the Republican’s have been saying doesn’t exist and therefore there is no case, but even though they haven’t let him testify it’s already become part of the public discourse because unlike many of the Trumpets, he can actually write. He has, in fact, written something that they all claim to not like, even though they also claim they have not read it.

It’s funny and very ironic that the most Republican of all Republican’s is the one who is going to bring the whole Party down. Even if Trump stays, even if the Senate votes him not guilty, the GOP is facing extinction.

Much as I have always despised Bolton for his warlike intentions and especially what he did to bring about the phony but horribly deadly war with Iraq, he seems to have some sense of honor.  He seems truly repulsed by Trump’s violation of his oath of office. Sure he’s going to make big cash from the sale of his book and each move he makes in this situation will make him increasingly richer, but even if that’s true which it probably is, he did act honorably. He didn’t just sit quietly and swallow it when Trump dished it out and for that I applaud the little troll.

Despite the GOP having voted to stop Bolton from becoming a witness, a situation that terrified them, they never stopped compiling their own witness list just in case they lost the vote. If the Democrats had gotten four votes for allowing witnesses, the GOP would have run out a lot more witnesses than the Democrats and they would all have been about Biden because they had no where to go with the President. They had already lost that battle. Even GOP Senators that voted against witnesses admitted that Trump was guilty but they just didn’t want to see him kicked out of office. The GOP, understanding that Trump was guilty had already lined up a flood of witnesses who were expected to explain that despite Trump’s guilt it just didn’t matter. No one on the Right seemed to care that there was no reality to the idea of the Biden’s being involved with Trump’s extortion.

Whatever involvement Joe or Hunter Biden had in any Ukrainian schemes, it had no influence on what Trump did. Yes, Hunter Biden getting a big bucks job on Burisma’s board of directors stinks to high heaven, but there is no real indication that Burisma ever got anything from Joe for it. That’s what’s important. The Biden’s y have absolutely nothing relevant to say about Trump’s troubles or criminal activities, even though the blackmail was specifically aimed at Joe’s presidential chances.

It’s a smoke screen, folks. If you have no ammunition you throw out a flash bang to distract the enemy and create confusion. That’s exactly what the GOP is doing with the Biden’s. If it works it will be an illustration of just how dumb we really are.

Of course we all know that the GOP will never accept that the Biden’s have no significance in Trump’s criminal actions. That’s simply because they don’t want that to be true. But saying that the Biden’s were involved in Trump’s attempt to bribe the Ukrainians is like saying that the robbery victim is somehow involved in the robber’s decision to rob him. Yeah, I know. It’s ludicrous but that’s just GOP thinking. .

Trump looked at the Democratic field, decided that Biden could easily beat the crap out of him and panicked. So he set out to force Zenensky to help him, and his means was to hold up the aid that congress had voted to give Ukraine until Zelensky announced that he was investigating Biden. If you can see Biden’s involvement in that you have a more fertile imagination than even Trump.

We are almost at the end of the trial. Both sides have made their points. Looking at what has been said by the GOP one is forced to the conclusion that they have just about given up even trying to make the whole deal look legitimate. They made no attempt to argue the evidence that the Democrats provided. They made little attempt to deny anything the Democrats said. The only defense, and it was pretty pathetic, was Dershowitz’s attempt to convince anyone that no matter how guilty the House painted the President, he couldn’t be convicted because this week Dershowitz didn’t want that result. It really came down to the administration lawyers almost begging to put off any decision and just let the voters decide in November.

I found the constant plea that by trying to convict Trump; the House was somehow taking away the rights of those who voted for him in 2016, absurd. This is just another twisting of the truth by a bunch of criminal liars who don’t want to recognize that this impeachment was brought on by Donald Trump and no one else.  Trump was a liar and a criminal before he was elected and he has done nothing to change that image since he entered the White House. There is such a thing as calling a spade a spade, even if the President doesn’t understand it.

Nancy Pelosi fought her own party to keep this from happening but Trump, like any child who is not punished for his misdeeds, continued to commit one dirty deed after another until she was finally forced to pull the trigger.

Trump has lied to the American people over 15,000 times in the last three years. Is there really anyone dumb enough to believe anything he says? Certainly no one with any intelligence. The only reason to support anything he says or does is because there is something in it for you. That’s true of the Republicans in the Senate but I really can’t see any advantage to anyone but millionaires, so the only reason for anyone else to believe him is pure brute stupidity or a serious victim complex.

When Alan Dershowitz threw out the most ludicrous theory of Presidential non-guilt since Julius Caesar. He espoused a concept whereby the President can’t be considered guilty of anything if he feels in his heart that he is doing something good for the country. Like keeping this criminal in the Presidency? Good luck with that one Alan.

Of course, knowing that Donald Trump feels everything he does is for the benefit of the country, even when he’s stealing from it with both hands, puts Dershowitz on safe ground only if you’re an idiot.

According to Dershowitz theory, any criminal who thinks his crime was for the benefit of the country is innocent of it simply because he thinks he’s innocent.  But Trump always thinks he’s innocent, no matter what he does. So in his mind there‘s no crime even if, as in Trump’s bribery attempt with Ukraine, there is no benefit to the pubic but only to himself.

So according to Alan there is really nothing the President can do that is against the law. Well, if that’s true there is really no point in having laws because according to Trump’s sycophants, he is above the law anyhow.  He can, therefore, do anything he wants. That’s a theory that will hold firm in any insane asylum in the land.

Now that he Senate has voted to ignore the need for witnesses or transcripts, the bottom line is this was never a trial as that concept is understood by all thinking people. It was merely a farce, orchestrated by Moscow Mitch McConnell because he had been pushed into a corner by the actions of the House in calling for this impeachment. In doing that, his Mosowness has once again ignored the constitution, as he did in the selection of Supreme Court justices.

Moscow may be scum but he is brilliant scum as illustrated by the fact that he has simply ignored all other authority and just done what he wants and no one has been smart enough or tough enough to stop him. Moscow Mitch has proved that no one in our current government is able to stop him from doing exactly what he wants. But Kentucky voters will be able to open the eyes of the nation by taking away his power and reducing him to the criminal degenerate he obviously is. I’m talking about the election. If the People of Kentucky have more honor then their Moscow loving Senator, they will vote him out of office and remove all his power. McConnell was never doing this for the same reason the rest of his fellow Senators were. They want to keep their cushy, well paying jobs more than they want to be honorable U.S. citizens. Mitch doesn’t need a cushy job. Mitch is already rich. What Mitch wants more than anything else is power. As long as he has it, he will continue to fuck up the nation.
