The GOP will Lose the War in Ukraine

So, the Trump backers led by former candidate Tim Scott say they want a return to normalcy, and they point to Trump to lead that return. Really?  Donald Trump is only normal if you have been living in a straight-jacket and banging your head on a stone wall for the last dozen or so years.

Everything Scott says is false. It runs from the nonsense about Hunter Biden which has nothing to do with the running of this country, to his view on what is happening in this country and abroad in reaction to Biden’s governance and leadership of the world.

Why is Scot so busy kissing Trump’s ass? He ran against him but was very careful not to say anything bad about possibly the worst candidate to ever run on the felony ticket. Now, the question on just about everyone’s lips is why the hell is a black man pushing for the worst racist since the Klan emerged from the slime.

Martha Raddatz interviewed 3 serious Trump backers on This Week. These were seemingly intelligent people who by my reckoning were ill informed or just naïve enough to believe the GOP lies.  But they do vote so they have to be considered.

What was interesting was that all seemed to hold Trump’s social conduct against him but not enough to make him unacceptable as President, even though none of them were the type of people who would allow their kids to behave the way Trump does. Something is wrong with the country, and we better figure out what it is before the coming election, or we will end up with a criminal sociopath back in the White House.

I’ve spoken about the pending border bill a number of times. It’s a good bill, from what they’re saying about it, probably the best bill the GOP will ever get. But both Speaker of the House Johnson, and former President, current candidate, Donald Trump don’t want it. Why? Simple! It will make Biden look good and that’s the last thing any Republican wants.

The deal would include many if not all of the items listed below but since it hasn’t been published yet it’s difficult to nail down specifics. These are the area’s most spoken about by those authoring the bill:

*Close the border after 5000 crossings over 7 days. Much talk about doing it after 4000.

*Raise the standards on accepting asylum seekers and speed up the process.

*Expand expedited deportation.

*Restrict the use of parole for immigrants.

*50,000 immigrant visas for children of H1-B visa holders (people with special skills).

*Provide Green cards for Afghan refugees in U.S.

*14 billion dollars for border costs.

It isn’t perfect, but no one will ever pass a perfect bill because there’s always some clown with a half-baked idea that must be bought off by getting rid of something that works or adding something that doesn’t. It’s what all negotiations are about. We have been trying to get something with all of these points passed for over 30 years and haven’t come close. We have a chance to pass a significant bill that will help with our immigration problems and congress should be held accountable by the voters if they don’t pass it.

No, as stated above, it doesn’t solve everything, but nothing will. Yes, it will make Biden look good, but that’s because the GOP put itself in this position and now, they are stuck with it.  We simply can’t let the funding for the Ukrainian fight be ignored. It is too important. If we let the Russians take more of Ukraine just because a couple of rockheads don’t want to make Biden look good, we will be undermining all of our foreign policy and weakening our ability to keep the peace all over the world.

Of course, if Trump wins the election, he will return to kissing Putin’s ass and Ukraine can kiss theirs goodbye.

In the midst of a failed speech on Meet the Press,Nikki Haley dropped one suggestion that made sense. If congress can’t get anything done, they shouldn’t get paid.

That statement, which is fairly definitive, stands opposed to another one that brands Haley as not willing to go on record about anything and that is because she continually says that everything under discussion is up to someone else. When asked if based on his record as former President, she thinks that Donald Trump is qualified to be President again? She replies it’s not up to her, it’s up to the people. Ask her if she thinks being a convicted felon should disqualify Trump from being President, she tells you it isn’t up to her, it’s up to the voters. Ask her if she thinks that being charged with 91 felony counts should prevent Trump from running until those counts are settled, she claims it’s not up to her.  We know all that. We know it isn’t up to her. But we need to know her position, because knowing what a Presidential candidate thinks is essential to casting an intelligent, vote and we’ve already cast too many unintelligent votes for Donald Trump, which is how he got into office in the first place.

It’s now time to cast only intelligent votes but the woman who should be helping us do that because it would benefit both her and us, just won’t get on the bus.

Watched Alexandra Ocasio Cortez on Meet the Press, and was impressed by how she unlike many progressives, was able to make her points, while not going overboard and sounding like a fanatic. This hasn’t always been true of AOC and it’s really refreshing to see. It will help the country.
